New Knowledge // Nuevos Conocimientos
Hello to all the community of Gems, today I want to tell you a couple of new things that I have learned in this quarantine in a very unexpected way.
Hola a toda la comunidad de Gems, hoy les quiero contar un par de cosas nuevas que he aprendido en esta cuarentena de forma muy inesperada.
It turns out that my brother, because he could not continue working in the company where he was working, due to the quarantine, decided to start learning how to fix air conditioners, since he has a lot of knowledge in electricity, because he is an electrical engineer. But, from time to time, he needs an assistant for certain jobs, that assistant is me, since this way I can be learning the way to work them, and this can be useful in the future. For them, I want to tell you a little about my experience.
Resulta que mi hermano, debido a que no pudo seguir trabajando en la empresa que trabajaba, por la cuarentena, decidió comenzar a aprender a arreglar aires acondicionados, ya que tiene muchos conocimientos en electricidad, debido a que es Ingeniero Electricista. Pero, de vez en cuando, necesita un ayudante para ciertos trabajos, ese ayudante soy yo, ya que así puedo ir aprendiendo la forma de trabajarlos, y esto me puede servir en un futuro. Por ellos, les quiero contar un poco de cómo fue mi experiencia.
Today, it was time to do some routine maintenance on a lady friend of the family's air.
Hoy, tocó hacerle mantenimiento de rutina a un aire de una señora amiga de la familia.
First we start on the outside by dismantling the compressor, to give it a complete clean. My brother disassembles it and I clean each of the pieces, and then put them to dry.
Primero comenzamos en la parte exterior desarmando el compresor, para hacerle una limpieza completa. Mi hermano lo desarma y yo me encargo de limpiar cada una de las piezas, y, posteriormente ponerlas a secar.

The same applies to the rest of the parts that cannot be removed, as this is where the dirt is most concentrated and causes it to lose performance. And, once this is done, we proceed to reassemble it as it was.
De igual manera con el resto de las partes que no pueden sacarse, ya que aquí es donde más se concentra la suciedad y hace que éste pierda rendimiento. Y, una vez hecho esto, procedemos a volver a armarlo tal como estaba.
Now, we proceed to work on the inner part, the very usually called, "Split". We also begin by disassembling the equipment, removing the lid, filters and water collection tray.
Ahora, procedemos a trabajar en la parte interior, el muy usualmente denominado, “Split”. De igual forma comenzamos desarmando el equipo, retirando así, la tapa, los filtros y la bandeja de recolección del agua.
Look how dirty the filters were, full of dirt and dust.
Fíjense como estaban de sucios los filtros, llenos de tierra y polvo.
We proceed to clean the filters, the lid and the tray very well, preferably using soap and water, to kill any bacteria that may have been born in that dirt.
Procedemos a limpiar los filtros, la tapa y la bandeja muy bien, utilizando agua y jabón preferiblemente, para matar cualquier bacteria que haya podido nacer en esa suciedad.
Perhaps the most tedious job is reassembly, as it is difficult for all the pieces to fit together easily, because they are so well anchored to each other.
Quizá, el trabajo más tedioso, es volver a montar, ya que es difícil que todas las piezas encajen fácilmente, porque están muy bien ancladas unas con otras.
In spite of several inconveniences we had with this air conditioner, the maintenance could be done properly. To do regular maintenance, ensures its optimal operation, and to prevent future failures.
A pesar de varios inconvenientes que tuvimos con este aire acondicionado, se pudo realizar el mantenimiento correctamente. Hacerle un mantenimiento regular, asegura su óptimo funcionamiento, y para prevenir fallas futuras.
