Food Art

There are different forms of art, one of which is food art or culinary art. You can do great artworks in the kitchen and also made sweets as souvenir and sell them at the craft market.

At each craft market there has to be someone selling these gorgeous gingerbread, which is not just gingerbread, this is art, a masterpiece each one! I make gingerbread every Christmas as that's traditional around here and I can't imagine Christmas without it but what I do is not even close to what you can find at these markets.

These items are traditional and I've been writing about it, showing you new photos every time I see these as I can't leave without taking a bunch of photos, besides, there are always new designs you can find and I can't resist.

As I said before, these came to life as souvenirs people brought back home to their kids, wives from the fairs they went to, to sell their goods and buy what they needed. Over the years the tradition was kept alive and the product got diversified.

The design is traditional to this region, tulip is a traditional element in Transylvanian and Hungarian folk art. You can find it on most of the handmade, hand painted pottery and clothes. Red and white are also two colors you can fin in this region's folk art. I remember when I was a little girl, my dad used to buy me these hearts with the little mirror in the middle. Needless to say how happy I was to get a gingerbread like that. Who wouldn't been happy?

Today you can find these hearts to be designed for all occasions: birthday, name day, as a greeting, then with a message saying to the best mom, grandmother, sister, love etc. Instead of buying a card for your loved one, you can buy a gingerbread like this. I don't know about you but I find them extremely beautiful

As these products are not cheap, the artists have thought about kids too, so for them there are these smaller ones. Butterflies, houses like in the fairy tale are just a few you can find. I've seen car shaped gingerbread as well.

This vendor has thought about everyone and had a great variety of them, one for each taste. Tulips, sunflowers, bears, hearts, cars, owls, ladybugs and bunnies, this is just what I can see on the photo.

It's so tempting when you see these products but these are not cheap. From the upper row you can buy one for 15 lei (€3.1), or 2 for 20 (€4.14). I said I need to try to make these at home just for fun but not for Christmas as that's the most busy time of the year and there's always a rush. You can't rush these though, you need time and experience. Maybe when the weather cools down, after the gardening season is over. Anyway, I'll be back with a post when it happens.

This is my last #marketfriday post. I've been part of this community and challenge for as long as I can remember but from now on I'm going to post my photos off challenge. I'd like to thank @dswigle for all she does for the community and wish everyone good luck and happy market hunting.

Very beautiful decorations but you're right about the price: that's a bit expensive, specially considering Romania is not known for its high wages... 😮

Imagine a mother with three kids. I've seen a scene like that once, kids were screaming.

You do have some of the most beautiful craft markets there are gingerbread is a favorite of mine and these are real masterpieces for sure! I am positive I have never had a Christmas without one, and the designs that you show are very unique and beautiful! I'm still hanging gingerbread ornaments on my tree and stopped because my dog was eating them.

I like the fact that you give Regional history both Pennsylvanian and Hungarian. I believe that nobody can ever learn enough about our world and little known facts that you insert into your posts make them very personal. So, thank you for that and thank you for your continued efforts in educating us. I believe that you have been one of the most prolific posters for Market Friday and I appreciate all that you have added to the challenge. Much appreciation for all of your hard work and you know that I will miss you! Of course, you can come back at any time and drop us one. Thanks for the nice comment. I really made huge efforts to post quality content and show something interesting each week. Less likely to come back as the reason I'm leaving is still there and I don't think anything will change, so it's time for me to leave.
However, it's been a nice journey, have learned a lot.
I wish you all the best in the world so you can manage the communities you've running.
Have a nice weekend my friend and take care. 🤗 Hugs

I guess I don't understand what you mean, Erika. @erikah I took it for granted that you were tired of posting into the challenge. I am sorry if anyone/anything offended you and if you don't mind, maybe you can drop me a line on discord so I know it is not me. Well, even if it is, I would want to know. You are a very honest and forthright person, so I know what you say is what you feel in your heart.

I am not upset you are leaving, that happens, but, I am upset that something drove you to leave. Please accept my sincere apologies for whatever it is.

I am truly glad you dropped me a note and please take good care of yourself. xo Hugs!
