Sepia Saturday At The Lower Susquehanna Greenway Trail
Hi All and Happy Sepia Saturday! Today, I'll be taking you back to the Lower Susquehanna Greenway Trail at The Conwingo in Harford County, Maryland.
This is the trail that is on the "dam" side and is right next to the Fisherman's Park.
The day was partly cloudy with the sun making an occasional appearance. It was a bit windy and my visit started out a little chilly but when you're walking it warms you up real quick.
When walking this trail you will see remnants of an old railroad track. The railroad was built in order to get supplies in to build the dam.
It seems like every time I go back to this trail there is less to be seen of the old railroad ties. It just feels a little sad to me. I bet it was a sight to see back in the day! Another thing that made me sad to see were some of the placards along the trail that are in great need of replacement and or repair.
I guess "things" just like people show their age after a while. It's just all part of this thing called life. You know I took a lot of photos of the water but most are not really good enough to show as the overgrowth tended to take away from the views.
Although, some overgrowth did make some very nice photos! Fallen or partially fallen trees can also look nice in photos whether it be in sepia, color or black and white.
I did find a few small flowers along the trail.
This is maybe my favorite photo out of this lot. For me, it has a look of serenity. Seeing this weathered picnic table and hearing the birds singing was tranquil indeed.
This is about where we decided to turn around and head back. It was almost (if not) halfway through the trail. The other side comes out at the old Stafford Flint Furnace.
On the way back, I do want to show you something!
This is just part of a big pond along this trail. As you may be able to tell, it is right up next to the trail so if you have very small children then you would probably want to hold onto their hand right around here. I don't think it is deep but it is mucky. It was also teeming with tadpoles. I looked really hard to find a frog and get a photo but had no luck. I heard a few and saw jumping from the trail edge into the pond but no frog photos today...sorry.
This is my last photo! I hope you had fun along the trail with me today! I will, of course, close with a water photo! 😁

Thanks for the walk around the Lower Susquehanna Greenway Trail Dee. Photos look great in Sepia.💞
It’s too bad the railway ties are deteriorating and the placards are getting dog-eared.
Thanks so much Jo!! It is a bit sad but bound to happen with time. I can't help but wonder if some wildlife got to some of the placards. 🤔 🙂
