One ritual I perform daily is to listen to music and it has become a part of me that I hardly go a day without it. Oftentimes, it is the next thing I do after doing my morning devotion while I prepare to go to work. It's benefits cannot just be underrated as it makes my day start on a platter of greatness and keeps me going throughout the day. I have playlists for different genres of songs ranging from gospel to afro beats, hip hop, juju and so on.

Listening to music is a form of entertaining myself apart from movies and hanging out. It also makes me healthier due to the fact that I "gbe body" during the course of listening to my songs.

Music is said to influence the way we think, feel and behave. It is a source of deriving pleasure and fun. Imagine the moment when your favorite song is playing - your body is feel with excitement as you vibe with the song happy and highly elated.

Music is known to help reduce stress or better still help to manage it. Each time I'm stressed out or bored and I listen to music I feel relaxed and re-energized. It shuts me off from the stress that I feel and in a short while I feel better. Music is unarguably a great way to manage stress. We face different kinds of stress on a daily basis due to our hustle and bustle, so music is a key to relaxing.

In addition, music helps to improve memory and retention. I develop the habit of plugging my headset while I study in school because it helps me to understand and remember easily. On the other hand, some people feel it is a form of distraction. Truth be said, listening to music while reading could be helpful or the other way around depending on variety of determinants such as type of music (slow or fast), whether or not the listener is enjoying it and so on. In short, the extent to which listening to music have on improving the memory is absolutely based on individuals.
