LOS NIÑOS EN EL HOGAR/ CHILDREN AT HOME

Dicen que los niños son un tesoro y, la verdad es que estoy convencida de ello. Cuando hay niños en el hogar sientes como una chispa de renovación, atenderlos, ver sus progresos, escucharles sus ocurrencias que te hacen reír o que te llevan a la reflexión es algo que se vuelve invaluable.

Los niños son una fuente de aprendizaje, para uno como adulto, si te detienes y observas, te hacen tener una visión del mundo distinta. Su percepción es como más despierta, están más atentos de lo que sucede en su entorno dándole importancia a cosas en las que uno no se detiene porque siempre “hay mucho que hacer” de eso hay que aprender, a vivir poniendo énfasis en lo que te rodea, lo que te ofrece el momento, quizás la lección sea vivir la vida con más liviandad.

Their perception is more awake, they are more attentive to what is happening around them, giving importance to things that you don't stop to think about because "there is always so much to do", that's what you have to learn, to live with an emphasis on what is around you, what the moment offers you, perhaps the lesson is to live life more lightly.

El preámbulo surge porque ayer tuve una experiencia muy gratificante. Resulta que, la semana pasada llegó una sobrina con su esposo y dos hijas que vivían en Chile desde hace 4 años. Nosotros, que somos una familia bastante numerosa, que vivíamos rodeados de gente joven y niños, de pronto, con esto de la diáspora venezolana nos quedamos sin muchachos cercanos.

Un círculo de gente en la categoría de “juventud prolongada” (jajaja, vivan los eufemismos) lo cual no es "malo" pero sí sientes, con frecuencia, la añoranza de escuchar risas y voces juveniles, de personas cercanas, que están haciendo sus vidas y comparten contigo sus vivencias.

We, who are quite a large family, who lived surrounded by young people and children, suddenly, with the Venezuelan diaspora, we were left without close friends.

A circle of people in the category of "prolonged youth" (hahaha, long live euphemisms) which is not "bad" but you do often feel the longing to hear the laughter and youthful voices of people close to you, who are living their lives and sharing their experiences with you.

Lo cierto es que mi sobrina llega y, llega con muy buen ánimo, con una actitud optimista que me encanta y satisface. Las niñas tienen dos años que no asisten a una escuela. Primero, por los sucesos que ocurrieron en el año 2019 en Chile y segundo porque a los cuatro días de iniciar el año escolar 2020 se declara la pandemia, entonces, otra vez para su casa. Conversando con sus padres me comentan su preocupación en este sentido, me puse a la orden para, nivelar a las niñas, en sus asuntos escolares.

The truth is that my niece arrives and arrives in very good spirits, with an optimistic attitude that I love and that satisfies me. The girls have been out of school for two years. Firstly, because of the events that occurred in 2019 in Chile and secondly, because four days before the start of the 2020 school year, the pandemic was declared, so they went home again. Talking with their parents, they told me of their concern in this regard, I put myself in order to level the girls, in their school affairs.

Ayer comenzamos. Mis alumnas una de 6 años y la otra de 11 años. Victoria, la sobrina-nieta de 11 años me manifiesta que ella siente su punto débil en matemáticas, historia y geografía de Venezuela. Comenzamos haciendo la evaluación diagnóstica y vimos cuáles son los puntos para iniciar. Miranda, la pequeña, que está en primer grado no ha comenzado a leer y éste fue un detonante para mí, porque toda la vida me ha gustado enseñar a leer a los niños, de hecho trabaje 16 años como maestra de primer grado porque siento, en ese enseñar a leer, un acto maravilloso.

Yesterday we started. My students, one 6 years old and the other 11 years old. Victoria, the 11 year old grand-niece tells me that she feels her weak point in mathematics, history and geography of Venezuela. We started by doing a diagnostic evaluation and saw what the starting points were. Miranda, the little girl, who is in first grade, has not started to read and this was a trigger for me, because I have always liked teaching children to read, in fact I worked for 16 years as a first grade teacher because I feel that teaching reading is a wonderful act.

Su maravilla está, en ese proceso de reconstrucción del leguaje que cada humano hace al aprender a unir letras para formar y encontrar nuevos sentidos a algo, tan abstracto, como es la palabra pronunciada e ir descubriendo al mismo tiempo la existencia de las cosas más allá de lo que se ve.

Toda una experiencia realmente nutritiva y por supuesto, como les comentaba al inicio, al compartir con niños siempre habrá alguna ocurrencia que te saque una sonrisa, una de las del día de ayer fue que ninguna de las dos quería venir a "clases* y de pronto la pequeña me dice: ¡me gusta que seas mi maestra, quiero venir todos los días! Ese comentario sincero y limpio de una niña de 6 años me lleno de mucha alegría y satisfacción porque despertar en un niño su interés y motivación por aprender es uno de los grandes regalos que los maestros podemos recibir.

It was a truly nourishing experience and of course, as I mentioned at the beginning, when sharing with children there will always be something that will bring a smile to your face. One of those yesterday was that neither of us wanted to come to "class" and suddenly the little one said to me: "I like you to be my teacher, I want to come every day! That sincere and clean comment from a 6 year old girl filled me with a lot of joy and satisfaction because awakening a child's interest and motivation to learn is one of the greatest gifts that teachers can receive.
