Mi abuela Dulce

Ella vivió durante su niñez, adolescencia y parte de su juventud en la ciudad de dónde ella nació, que es la misma en la cual nací yo. Debido a sus estudios universitarios ella se fue a otro estado para culminarlos, al oriente del país. Ella estudió bionalisis. Luego de terminar sus estudios volvió al occidente para trabajar y estuvo unos años por esta parte. Luego le ofrecieron un mejor cargo en el oriente y regresó para finalmente establecerse y formar su vida allá. Allá tuvo su casa, formó su hogar, tuvo 2 hijos más además de mi papá y un laboratorio propio laboratorio de bioanalisis. Tenía su hogar, sus cosas, su trabajo, sus amistades, una vida realizada. Era muy conocida, querida y de gran renombre en ese pueblo. Le gustaban las plantas y los animales. De hecho tenía un gran huerto y jardín en su casa. Su flor favorita siempre fue la orquidea. Tuvo un estanque repleto de patos durante un tiempo. Perros, gatos, gallinas y guacamayas. Lamentablemente falleció en el año 2014.

She lived during her childhood, teenage years and part of her youth in the city where she was born, which is the same city where I was born. Due to her university studies she went to another state to finish them, in the east of the country. She studied bionalysis. After finishing her studies she returned to the west to work and spent a few years there. Then she was offered a better position in the east and returned to finally settle down and form her life there. There she had her house, formed her home, had 2 more children besides my father and a bioanalysis laboratory of her own. He had his home, his things, his work, his friendships, a fulfilled life. She was very well known, loved and renowned in that town. She liked plants and animals. In fact, he had a large garden and orchard in his house. His favorite flower was always the orchid. He had a pond full of ducks for a while. Dogs, cats, chickens and macaws. Sadly, she passed away in 2014.

Ella siempre fue atenta con todos nosotros (nietos, hijos, sobrinos) incluyendo sus padres. Todos los días nos llamaba en las noches para hablar con nosotros y ver cómo estábamos. Varios veces en el mes de diciembre todos sus nietos recibíamos obsequios de su parte. Siempre velaba por nuestros estudios, por nuestro bienestar.

She was always attentive to all of us (grandchildren, children, nephews) including their parents. Every day she would call us in the evenings to talk to us and see how we were doing. Several times in December all of her grandchildren received gifts from her. He always looked after our studies, our welfare.

En el año 2009-2010 decidí irme a vivir con ella y estudiar allá durante ese año. Aún estaba en bachillerato. En ese año me enseñó muchas cosas. Desde valores y principios hasta cosas domésticas. Mejoré varios aspectos de mí en ese corto tiempo que estuve con ella. Me mostró cosas de mi mismo que ni yo conocía o sabía era capaz de poder hacer o ser. En ese entonces una de las cosas que me dijo fue para aprender a tocar un instrumento. Para ser honesto por mi mente nunca pasó ser musico. Luego de esa conversación con mi abuela lo pensé durante unas semanas. Inicialmente quise piano, pero ella me sugirió la guitarra, así que terminé optando por la guitarra. Tenía planes de inscribirme en la orquesta de ese pueblo en el que vivíamos, y por cierto, a pesar de ser un pequeño pueblo, su orquesta era una de las más reconocidas a nivel nacional. Una de las cosas que más me gustaba de ese lugar era la tranquilidad que sentía.

In the year 2009-2010 I decided to go live with her and study there during that year. I was still in high school. In that year she taught me many things. From values and principles to domestic things. I improved several aspects of myself in that short time I was with her. She showed me things about myself that I didn't even know I could do or be. At that time one of the things she told me was to learn to play an instrument. To be honest in my mind I never happened to be a musician. After that conversation with my grandmother I thought about it for a few weeks. Initially I wanted piano, but she suggested the guitar, so I ended up opting for the guitar. I had plans to enroll in the orchestra of that town where we lived, and by the way, in spite of being a small town, her orchestra was one of the most recognized nationally. One of the things I liked most about that place was the tranquility I felt.

Fue una mujer muy valiente, con un caracter fuerte en ocasiones, pero una mujer muy dulce como lo era su nombre. A pesar de sus errores a temprana edad siguió echandole ganas a la vida hasta conseguir todo lo que en vida tuvo. Pero creo que lo mas valioso para ella siempre fue la familia. Sin duda alguna doy gracias por haber tenido la dicha de tener esa gran persona en mi vida como lo fue mi abuela.

She was a very brave woman, with a strong character at times, but a very sweet woman as her name was. That despite her mistakes at an early age she continued to put her heart into life until she achieved everything she had in life. But I believe that the most valuable thing for her was always family. Without a doubt I am grateful for having had the joy of having that great person in my life as my grandmother was.
