Portfolio: The contemporary impressionism of the painter Iris Scott

(Edited)

Iris Scott is a painter who denies, so to speak, the intellectual, inaccessible, unintelligible and empty contemporary art that usually fills many galleries, and is more committed to painting with the soul, with the message of beauty and not intellectuality, although her works are not without a background and a message.

Faced with the abstract, she has returned to the origins, to portray the world through her particular gaze, and her main technique is one that puts her in intimate contact with what she creates: painting with her fingers, of which she is considered a pioneer.

A resident of Brooklyn, New York, she was raised by hippie parents in a farm environment in close contact with nature, the origin of her preference for nature as the subject of many of her works.

She studied painting at Washington State University, graduating in 2006, and a few years later, practically by accident, discovered the potential of using her fingers as brushes, which led to the rapid development of her own artistic style, very similar to impressionism, in its form, although not in its substance.

Her work has been featured in galleries in New York and San Diego, and has appeared in Forbes, USA Today, CBS New York, and American Art Collector, among other outlets. You can follow her work in her website and her Instagram.
