Portfolio: Aykut Aydogdu's Surreal Paintings

The more I look at the works of the Istanbul-based Turkish painter Aykut Aydogdu , the more they surprise me. Leaving aside the technical part and the color palettes that he usually uses, it is the duality in his paintings that attracts me the most.

Reality and playfulness literally intertwine together to convey emotions and show the two faces of our nature, or simply play with the semiotics of forms. Hair that turns into waves, pubic hair of roses, gags in the shape of planets, flowers like glasses, are just some of the images that populate his universe full of birds, butterflies, branches, cats, dogs, cigarette smoke and stormy seas.

I invite you to immerse yourself for a while in the world of Aykut Aydogdu through this selection of what I liked the most about his work, and I highly recommend visiting his account at Instagram and his website to learn more about his work.
