I saw the news surfing the internet, at first I thought it was just conjecture, a nice dream. However when I saw the comments some people claimed that it exists and indeed, its distribution was approved.

I was looking for medical articles, blogs, opinion articles and health plans and I realized that YES IT IS TRUE, the first contraceptive for men already exists and has been proven in humans. For years, small companies have been carrying out their studies, without the support of the big pharmaceutical companies.

Let's give context to the issue.

Anti-conception and family planning have always weighed on the shoulders of women with respect to long-lasting behavior, since hormonal pills, IUDs (intrauterine devices), vaginal rings and hormonal patches have always been designed to be used in the woman's body, never in the man's.

This has a strong commercial and socio-political motivation. No pharmaceutical company had been willing to invest in funding research. This is more than demonstrated when we think about it objectively: Women are fertile only 5 or 6 days each month, while men are fertile ALL YEAR ROUND. How does it work?

Hola Hivers, no podía aguantar un minuto sin escribir acerca de este tema.

Vi la noticia navegando por internet, al principio pensé que eran solo conjeturas, un sueño bonito. Sin embargo al ver los comentarios algunas personas afirmaban que existe y en efecto, su distribución fue aprobada.

Entre buscar artículo médicos, blogs, artículos de opinión y planes de salud pude darme cuenta de que SI ES CIERTO, ya existe y esta comprobado en un humanos el primer anticonceptivos para hombre. Desde hace años pequeñas empresas llevaron a cabo sus estudios, sin el apoyo de las grandes farmacéuticas.

Vamos a darle contexto al asunto.

La anti-concepción y planificación familiar siempre han pesado sobre los hombros de la mujer con respecto a una conducta duradera, puesto que las píldoras hormonales, los DIU (Dispositivo Intrauterino), anillos vaginales y parches hormonales, siempre fueron diseñados para ser usados en el cuerpo de la mujer, jamás en el hombre.

Esto tiene una motivación comercial y sociopolítica bastante marcada. Ninguna empresa farmacéutica había querido invertir en la financiación de la investigación. Esto queda más que demostrado cuando lo pensamos de manera objetiva: La mujer es fértil solo 5 o 6 días en cada mes, mientras que, el hombre lo es TODO EL AÑO. Aún así a sabiendas de este y muchos datos, se vió por años una marcada resistencia al desarrollo e investigación de la anticoncepción masculina comercialmente.

No obstante la fundación "PARSEMUS" (Que es una organización médica de origen estadounidense y fin fines de lucro) compró la patente de un método que el equipo del doctor Sujoy K. Guha ya estaba investigando en India, "Un inhibidor y con guía de esperma".

Tras muchos años, altibajos y constancia, hoy podemos decir que la primera inyección anti-conceptiva masculina está lista, pero...

¿Como funciona?

Lo mejor sería definir en términos sencillos que es VASAGEL, que no es más que un hidrogel sintético inyectable. Se inyecta directamente en el "conducto deferente" (en el pene en el conducto por donde pasan los espermatozoides). Justo en el extremo en el que éste se une al escroto, por lo que, la inyección no se aplica directamente en el pene. El gel hace una barrera que impide el paso de los espermatozoides. Haciendo que en términos de fertilidad los hombres ya no sean capaces de depositar espermatozoides dentro de la mujer para la fecundación, no obstante, no afecta en lo absoluto su capacidad de eyacular o de sentir placer.

En otras palabras palabras es un procedimiento ambulatorio sencillo, de corta duración y que empieza a hacer su función solo 15 minutos tras haber sido aplicado.

¿Que ventajas trae VASAGEL en comparación con los anticonceptivos femeninos?

-Tiene una duración de 10 a 13 años.
-No tiene efectos secundarios, ya que no tiene acciones hormonales.
-El proceso dura aproximadamente 15 minutos y una vez inyectado el gel queda fijado (De modo que actúa a modo de filtro para evitar el paso de espermatozoides pero no de otros fluidos).
-No altera la sensación de placer (Aunque pudiera causar aumento del deseo sexual.
-Es REVERSIBLE: Sí, pese a su amplio espectro de duración, puede ser interrumpido en el momento que se tenga el deseo de tener hijos, esto mediante el uso de una solución de bicarbonato. "Se logra eliminando el Vasalgel de los conductos deferentes con la inyección de una solución de bicarbonato de soda", explica la Fundación Parsemus.

¿Cuando y donde empezará a estar disponible?

Según los diferentes portales de noticias y Blogs que fueron consultados para este artículo se coincide que el primer lugar donde se encontraría disponible es en México, a mediados del año pasado. Sin embargo, a razón de la pandemia mundial que tuvo sus inicios en diciembre de 2019 no se pudo iniciar con dicha distribución. Se espera que este año la distribución de VASAGEL tenga inicio, cambiando para siempre el mundo de la planificación familiar y la sobre-población y pobreza extrema por embarazos no deseados.
