Ay la navidad. Esa época donde tradicionalmente se comparte con la familia, se hornea algún pavo, se estrena ropa nueva, se hornean galletas, se dan regalos, se prenden lucecitas de colores, y así. Desde luego, cada país tiene acostumbra a celebrar la nochebuena de una manera diferente.

Oh Christmas. That time when traditionally it is shared with the family, a turkey is baked, new clothes are released, cookies are baked, gifts are given, colored lights are lit, and so on. Of course, each country has a custom to celebrate Christmas Eve in a different way.

En Venezuela, por ejemplo, el plato navideño está compuesto por la hallaca, el pan de jamón, y la ensalada de gallina. Se escuchan villancicos y gaitas de la región zuliana, un estado popular de este país símbolo único de estas fiestas. La cultura se une en el tambor, el farruco, las maracas, el cuatro y la guitarra, y al ritmo de los fuegos artificiales, las fiestas son únicas.

In Venezuela, for example, the Christmas dish is made up of the Halca, the ham bread, and the chicken salad. Christmas carols and bagpipes are heard from the Zulia region, a popular state of this country, a unique symbol of these festivals. The culture comes together in the drum, the farruco, the maracas, the cuatro and the guitar, and to the rhythm of the fireworks, the parties are unique.

Sin embargo, hay tradiciones muy raras en navidad, tan extrañas en sí mismas que son poco conocidas. En diferentes naciones, la cultura es un tanto más elocuente, por lo que es habitual que veamos raras costumbres o métodos para celebrar la nochebuena y las fiestas de fin de año.

However, there are very rare traditions at Christmas, so strange in themselves that they are little known. In different nations, the culture is somewhat more eloquent, so it is common for us to see strange customs or methods to celebrate Christmas Eve and the end of the year parties.

¿Sabes cuáles son estas tradiciones demasiado raras? Pues te sorprenderás y tal vez reirás cuando te describa alguna de ellas. ¿Listo? Entonces luces, cámara, y ¡Acción! LOL.

Tradiciones navideñas que de “navideñas” tienen poco.

• La araña que evita penas: esta tradición es de Ucrania, y consiste en llenar el árbol de navidad de telarañas para que, en nochebuena, las arañas terminen de decorarlo y llevar prosperidad a la familia.

Pues si por mi fuera, llenara el árbol de insecticidas LOL

• ¡Quema la cabra!: Ay pues esta costumbre es de Suecia, donde se intenta quemar una cabra de 13 metros en una plaza. Parecer ser que antes se tenía la tradición de adornarla, pero supongo que se cansaron y notaron que más fácil era prenderla en fuego LOL.

• El zapato de la soltera: En la republica checa, las solteronas de la casa acostumbran a lanzar de espaldas sus zapatos bien alto solo para ver que si éste cae apuntando en dirección a la puerta, tendrán a un galán para el año siguiente. En cambio, si apunta a otro lado, seguirá vistiendo santos durante todo el año nuevo.

Yo también lancé mi zapato, y apuntó a todos lados menos a la puerta. Ja, creo que mejor iré a llenar el árbol de telarañas.

• Háblale al animal: el día de nochebuena no es para nada desaprovechado en Brasil, donde los padres ponen a sus hijos a hablar con sus mascotas para ver si estos les responden porque dicen, que un poder mágico les da el don a los animales de decir “hola”. Bueno, ya sé que en navidad será mi perro el primero al que le pregunte por la extraña desaparición de mis pantuflas LOL.

• Secuestra a tu madre: esta es una de las costumbres navideñas más extrañas que encontré. En ella, los niños con la ayuda de sus padre, secuestran a su madre dos domingos antes de navidad para exigirle que les de regalos. Todo en modo de broma, claro está. ¡Imagínense que vulgaridad! LOL. Aquí no se puede hacer eso, a menos que quieras unos buenos jalones de orejas.

• The spider that avoids pain: this tradition is from Ukraine, and consists of filling the Christmas tree with cobwebs so that, on Christmas Eve, the spiders finish decorating it and bring prosperity to the family.

Well, if it were up to me, I'd fill the tree with insecticides LOL

• Burn the goat !: Oh well, this custom is from Sweden, where you try to burn a 13-meter goat in a square. It seems that before there was a tradition of decorating it, but I guess they got tired and noticed that it was easier to set it on fire LOL.

• The shoe of the single woman: In the Czech Republic, the spinsters of the house tend to throw their shoes high on their backs just to see that if it falls pointing towards the door, they will have a gallant for the following year. Instead, if you point elsewhere, you will continue to wear saints throughout the new year.

I also threw my shoe, and it aimed everywhere but at the door. Ha, I think I'd better go fill the tree with cobwebs.

• Talk to the animal: Christmas Eve is not wasted at all in Brazil, where parents have their children talk with their pets to see if they respond because they say that a magical power gives the gift to animals of say hi". Well, I know that at Christmas my dog will be the first one to ask about the strange disappearance of my slippers LOL.

• Kidnap your mother: this is one of the strangest Christmas customs I have come across. In it, the children, with the help of their fathers, kidnap their mother two Sundays before Christmas to demand that she give them gifts. All in joke mode, of course. Imagine what vulgarity! LOL. You can't do that here, unless you want some good ear pulls.

Sin duda, hay navidades que son demasiado extrañas. En algunas las arañas dan suerte, en otras, los animales hablan, en unas cuantas las solteras esperan no seguir vistiendo a los santos, y en otras cuantas se queman a las cabras. Pero todas, sin duda, tienen un buen objetivo: pasar un buen rato y compartir con la familia.

Without a doubt, there are Christmases that are too strange. In some the spiders give luck, in others, the animals speak, in a few the single women hope that they will no longer dress the saints, and in others a few burn the goats. But all, without a doubt, have a good goal: to have a good time and share with the family.

Después de todo, ese es el espíritu navideño, ¿qué importa si celebras la navidad hablándole a tu perro? El asunto es, que puedas disfrutarlo XD.
