Cuando escuchas la palabra Troll ¿Qué se te viene a la mente? ¿Tal vez monstruos verdes que cuidan un puente mágico? Puede ser, sí, pero si estuviéramos hablando de historias de fantasía o juegos de rol. En este caso en particular, me refiero a otro tipo de monstruo: uno que navega por el internet con garras en lugar de dedos. Estos sujetos se esconden debajo del anonimato y rastrean las redes sociales en busca de victimas frescas a las cuales denigrar con mensajes negativos, abusivos, obscenos y fuera de lugar. ¿Y cuál es la intención detrás de estos comentarios ofensivos? Causar un malestar que lleve a la persona que sufre de estos ataques a sentirse mal consigo mismo, o crear un ambiente de conflicto entre varios usuarios de la red.

When you hear the word Troll, what comes to mind? Maybe green monsters guarding a magical bridge? It can be, yes, but if we were talking about fantasy stories or role-playing games. In this particular case, I mean another type of monster: one that surfs the internet with claws instead of fingers. These subjects hide under anonymity and scour social networks in search of fresh victims to denigrate with negative, abusive, obscene and inappropriate messages. And what is the intention behind these offensive comments? Cause discomfort that leads the person who suffers from these attacks to feel bad about himself, or create an environment of conflict between various users of the network.

Sí, ahora los monstruos son reales y lo peor de todo es que se esconden tras una pantalla, unas teclas e identidades falsas. Yo diría que es cobardía, más que eso es un auténtico abuso. Todos estamos expuestos ante estos troles del internet, pues cualquiera que tenga intenciones oscuras puede ingresar a un perfil y expresar todo su odio. Vale, somos seres humanos, y muchas veces nos duele que se burlen de nuestra apariencia, nuestra manera de pensar o incluso de lo que tanto nos gusta hacer. Hay una mala interpretación de lo que conocemos como “humor en las redes sociales”, porque muchos creen que hacer un meme es copiar la cara de una persona y usar una nube de texto ofensiva y por demás de grosera.

Yes, now the monsters are real and worst of all is that they hide behind a screen, some keys and false identities. I would say that it is cowardice, more than that it is a real abuse. We are all exposed to these internet trolls, because anyone with dark intentions can enter a profile and express all their hatred of it. Okay, we are human beings, and many times it hurts us that they make fun of our appearance, our way of thinking or even what we like to do so much. There is a misinterpretation of what we know as "humor on social networks", because many believe that making a meme is copying a person's face and using an offensive and otherwise rude text cloud.

Hace poco, la reciente noticia del estreno del Reboot de ¡Carly hizo revuelo en el mundo. Hoy las redes sociales brindan muchas herramientas para desmarcarnos de los usuarios que solo intentan hacernos daño o desequilibrar nuestros perfiles con comentarios ofensivos. Actualmente cualquier contenido considerado como “sensible” puede convertirse en un blanco perfecto para los Trolls. Ten cuidado con los que posteas, no caigas en sus anzuelos. Ellos esperan que cometas un error para atacarte y de maneras muy ofensivas. Creo que el aspecto más importante a la hora de enfrentarse a un Troll es no creen en lo que te dicen. Ellos solo desean hacerte sentir mal, y además, son cobardes por el simple hecho de ocultarse bajo el anonimato. I think the most important aspect when facing a Troll is that they don't believe what they tell you. They just want to make you feel bad, and besides, they are cowards for the simple fact of hiding under anonymity. Their lives are really sad, and they want yours to somehow be too. Make their comments blow away, after all you are special and unmatched, and we all have a quality that makes us unique. You are true, they are false. Simply put, you matter more.

El internet ha servido de puente para que muchos monstruos crucen a nuestras vidas e intenten destruirnos. Sin embargo, debemos apelar a la inteligencia y al sentido común, y combatirlos astutamente. La mejor manera es ignorarlos, convertirlos en palabras vacías. Demuéstrales que eres y seguirás siendo feliz a pesar de sus comentarios ofensivos, de esta manera los atacarás donde más les duele: en su imposibilidad de hacerte sentir triste. The internet has served as a bridge for many monsters to cross into our lives and try to destroy us. However, we must appeal to intelligence and common sense, and fight them cunningly. The best way is to ignore them, turn them into empty words. Show them that you are and will continue to be happy despite their offensive comments, in this way you will attack them where it hurts the most: in their inability to make you feel sad. Trolls are beaten and not precisely with riddles, a smile will be enough to let them know that you, unlike them, are completely real and above all happy.
