When I was a child, like all children, I loved the idea of the existence of carnivorous plants. I loved it and I was terrified too. In the middle of my games, I imagined gardens full of carnivorous plants that would devour me in seconds. Mario Bros contributed to this idea.

Cuando era niña, como a todos los niños, me encantaba la idea de la existencia de las plantas carnivoras. Me encantaba y me aterraba también. En medio de mis juegos, imaginaba jardines llenos de plantas carnivoras que me devorarian en segundos. Mario Bros contribuyó a esta idea.

I still like flowers, but not the carnivores of my imagination.

Aún me gustan las flores, pero no las carnivoras de mi imaginación.

A few days ago I was collecting plumerias with my daughters in our allowed quarantine break down. The plumerias are native to my country, Venezuela, as well as Central America and Mexico. One of the ones I picked up was still a cocoon, and someone had ripped it off. While I was with my daughters, I took this cocoon and placed it on my finger, while I was turning it. The suggestion was that the flower would eat my finger gently. So this illustration occurred to me. I decided to use a flower with many more petals, and lush lips.

Hace unos días recogía plumerias con mis hijas en nuestro break down permitido de cuarentena. Las plumerias son originarias de mi país, Venezuela, así como de Centroamérica y México. Una de las que recogí era aun un capullo, y alguien la había arrancado. Mientras hablaba con mis hijas, tomé este capullo y lo coloqué en mi dedo, mientras le daba vueltas. La sensación era de que la flor me comería el dedo suavemente. Así se me ocurrió esta ilustración. Decidí utilizar una flor con muchos más pétalos, y unos labios exuberantes.
