March 18th: Not Much Creatively... But Good News on the Horizon!

avatar

I suppose it depends on how you like to define creativity... but I have really not been doing any creative work since my last post.

Or have I?

What I have managed to do is close the books on 2020 from a financial perspective... because my art is "a business," after all... and that means it gets its own "Schedule C" on our income tax return.

Alas, 2020 was a truly miserable year, for obvious reasons. I have to go back to 2014 to find less income for Alchemystones for a year.

I suppose it just goes to show that painted stones are a tough sell through a web site, which bears out a lot of what we experience when we go to arts and crafts fairs: People love — and buy — the stones, when they can hold them in their hands and look at them, up close and personal.

But anyway, 2020 has now been formally retired from the books.

Better News Ahead?

On a more promising front, once of the organizations behind a major arts and crafts holiday show recently sent out vendor applications for their 2021 show.

Meaning, of course, that they are expecting to HAVE a 2021 show.

Of course, this doesn't happen until the first weekend in December... but simply the fact that they are going ahead feels like a move in the right direction.

Our space at the 2019 show

I'm not holding my breath yet... December is a long ways off! But it would certainly be nice to have "something."

Incidentally, this was also the last live show we attended in 2019, before the Covid outbreak.

And that's basically all I have for this update. Thanks for stopping by, and till the next time!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and support!
