Primera impresión al ir a un cine VIP/First impressions when going to a VIP cinema

¿Vale la pena pagar tanto en una sala de cine VIP?/¿Is it worth paying so much for a VIP movie theater?

Como soy fan del cine, en la ciudad donde vivía siempre acostumbraba a ir todos los fines de semana al cine, checar la cartelera y escoger lo que me llamara la atención. Dentro de esa ciudad solo contaban con dos cines, uno que pertenecía a una compañía reconocida y otro que era independiente, ambos manejaban precios diferentes, pero la calidad era muy idéntica.

As I am a movie fan, in the city where I lived I always used to go to the movies every weekend, check the billboard and choose what caught my attention. In that city there were only two movie theaters, one that belonged to a well-known company and another one that was independent, both had different prices, but the quality was identical.

Los precios de combos o dulcería solo variaban muy poco, los promocionales de cada estreno si hacían diferencia de precio, ya que el cine independiente era más accesible en cuanto a palomeras o vasos promocionales. No soy de comprar siempre promocionales, solo cuando en serio me gusten y también para economizar un poco, ya que siempre son muy caros.

The prices of combos or candy only varied very little, the promotions of each premiere did make a difference in price, since the independent cinema was more accessible in terms of popcorn boxes or promotional glasses. I don't always buy promotions, only when I really like them and also to economize a little, since they are always very expensive.

Al tener pocas opciones dentro de la ciudad donde habitaba, no conocía más alternativas para disfrutar una película, aunque conocía que existían salas de cines donde la comodidad era lo primero o donde tenían una cierta realidad que te incluía como parte de la película.

Having few options within the city where I lived, I did not know more alternatives to enjoy a movie, although I knew that there were movie theaters where comfort came first or where they had a certain reality that included you as part of the movie.

Dichos cines se encontraban muy lejos y obviamente no eran accesibles para mí, así que solo tenía dos opciones principales: acudir a los dos cines que tenía disponible o ver películas en la comodidad de mi casa. Pero al mudarme a la Ciudad de México, mis opciones para todo aumentaron en un 100%, no solo se tenía entretenimiento en cine, sino también muchas opciones más.

These theaters were far away and obviously not accessible to me, so I only had two main options: go to the two theaters I had available or watch movies in the comfort of my home. But when I moved to Mexico City, my options for everything increased 100%, not only did I have movie entertainment, but also many more options.

Cuando mi novio me sugirió un fin de semana que fuéramos a una sala VIP, no lo pensé dos veces y acepte, ya que era una experiencia que no me perdería y además tenía altas expectativas que había construido en mi cabeza, así que fuimos al centro comercial más cercano donde se encontrara una sala de cine VIP.

When my boyfriend suggested to me one weekend that we go to a VIP theater, I didn't think twice and accepted, since it was an experience I wouldn't miss and also I had high expectations that I had built in my head, so we went to the nearest mall where there was a VIP theater.

Al llegar al cine me percaté que tanto su diseño como su estilo eran completamente diferente, con tonos claros y sofisticados. El servicio era demasiado rápido y los empleados del lugar muy amables, contaban con una zona de bar y una estancia con sala de espera.

When I arrived at the movie theater I noticed that both its design and style were completely different, with light and sophisticated tones. The service was too fast and the employees were very friendly, they had a bar area and a waiting room.

Me sorprendió demasiado todos los detalles y la buena presentación que brindaban, mis expectativas comenzaban a cumplirse, obviamente a mí me agrado mucho, ya que las salas que acostumbraba ver eran un poco más comunes y sin tanto detalle, pero eso no quiere decir que las desprecie de alguna manera.

I was very surprised by all the details and the good presentation they provided, my expectations were beginning to be fulfilled, obviously I liked it a lot, since the rooms I used to see were a little more common and without so much detail, but that does not mean that I despise them in any way.

Decidimos pedir un frappe mientras esperábamos la hora para que inicie la función de la película que escogimos, Un lugar en silencio 2, segunda parte que personalmente estaba esperando por mucho tiempo y el verla en una sala VIP pensaba que sería algo para recordar y conmemorar el momento.

We decided to order a frappe while we waited for the time for the screening of the movie of our choice, A Quiet Place 2, a sequel that I was personally looking forward to for a long time and seeing it in a VIP room I thought it would be something to remember and commemorate the moment.

Llegó la hora de la función, la emoción creció, pensé que entraría a una sala completamente diferente y de ensueño pero oh sorpresa... Fue algo muy decepcionante, el tamaño de la sala era idéntica a una de cine normal, la pantalla también era la misma, lo que si cambia es en el diseño de los asientos, eran mucho más cómodos y espaciosos, contaban con una mesita individual y porta vasos, pero de ahí en fuera todo lo demás era completamente normal.

It was time for the show, the excitement grew, I thought I would enter a completely different and dreamlike theater but oh surprise? It was very disappointing, the size of the theater was identical to a normal movie theater, the screen was also the same, what did change was the design of the seats, they were much more comfortable and spacious, they had an individual table and a glass holder, but from then on everything else was completely normal.

Nos colocamos en nuestro lugar que corresponde, pedimos nuestra comida a la carta (esa parte si me gustó) aunque la sazón me decepcionó y terminamos la película. Considerando esta experiencia con el precio de la entrada y la comida, la verdad para mí no vale la pena. La calidad de la película era la misma a los cines tradicionales, el menú era variado y contenía bebidas alcohólicas, aunque te ahorra el tiempo que te tomas esperando en la fila de dulcería en el cine tradicional, no vale la pena esos precios demasiados inflados por el simple hecho de ser un cine VIP. Y los asientos, si son cómodos y espaciosos, pero siento que no me brindan más allá para que el precio de los boletos los considere como una buena inversión.

We took our seats, ordered our food a la carte (I liked that part) although I was disappointed with the seasoning and finished the movie. Considering this experience with the price of the ticket and the food, the truth for me is not worth it. The quality of the movie was the same as in traditional movie theaters, the menu was varied and contained alcoholic beverages, although it saves you the time you spend waiting in the candy line in the traditional movie theater, it is not worth those inflated prices for the simple fact of being a VIP movie theater. And the seats, yes they are comfortable and spacious, but I feel that they don't give me more than enough for the price of the tickets to consider them a good investment.

¿Volveré de nuevo? La verdad no, fue una buena primera vez acudiendo a un cine VIP, pero basado en lo que ofrecen, prefiero mil veces ir a los cines tradicionales. Sé que este tipo de lugares son para personas que presumen tener ese tipo de "gustitos", no me refiero a que no tenga la suficiente economía como para no ir cada que quiera, me refiero a que la inversión que se da en esas salas de cines convendría más en una sala tradicional, ya que tienes la misma experiencia, claro, si no eres exigente.

Will I go back again? Not really, it was a good first time going to a VIP movie theater, but based on what they offer, I prefer to go to traditional movie theaters a thousand times. I know that this kind of places are for people who presume to have that kind of "treats", I don't mean that I don't have enough money not to go every time I want, I mean that the investment that is given in those movie theaters would be more convenient in a traditional theater, since you have the same experience, of course, if you are not demanding.

No negaré que esta experiencia se quedara en mis recuerdos al ser la primera vez en acudir a un cine de este estilo, me gusta experimentar nuevas cosas en lugares fuera de lo común, pero también soy consciente cuando la experiencia en sí no esta a la altura de las cuotas o precios.

I will not deny that this experience will remain in my memories as it was the first time I went to a movie theater of this style, I like to experience new things in places out of the ordinary, but I am also aware when the experience itself does not live up to the fees or prices.
