La Bella Congorocho | Macrophotography

Months ago, the visit of this little friend surprised me. The scenery was the backyard of my house where he was walking slowly. It had been a long time since I had seen such a large specimen up close. I reiterate how amazing nature can be; it is magnificent and perfectly symmetrical.

The truth is that these photos are tricked, yes, just as you read it. What you see is exactly what it looks like, but it didn't happen that way, I'll tell you how these photos happened.

It is usual to get these types of insects face up, struggling to place their feet on the ground. I'm sure there comes a time when they get so exhausted that they look dead because they stop moving. That's just what happened when I saw him, I thought his body was lifeless.

I touched it with a branch and it began to move its limbs and immediately grabbed the leaf with its sharp legs. Since there are many flowers in my house, and these insects are very docile and do not weigh much, it occurred to me to place it on top of those white petals. I knew that the stems were strong enough to support the congorocho.

When I placed it on the flowers it was perfectly balanced, calm, ready for the photo and that is how this photographic series came about. I estimate that the insect had a size of about 9 centimeters.

As for the title of this post, I can say two things. The first is that I am going to divide the photos I took of it into two posts. The second is that up to the moment the congorocho was on the flowers it behaved like a princess, but when I placed it on the ground so it wouldn't fall, there I saw the beast side of the insect. I liked those pictures better than these.

Hace meses, la visita de este pequeño amigo me sorprendió. El escenario fue el patio de mi casa por donde caminaba lentamente. Tenía mucho tiempo sin ver de cerca a un espécimen de estos tan corpulento. Reitero lo sorprendente que puede ser la naturaleza; es magnífica y perfectamente simétrica.

Lo cierto es que estas fotos están trucadas, sí, así como lo leen. Lo que ven es exactamente lo que parece, pero no ocurrió así, les cuento cómo sucedieron estas fotos.

Es usual conseguir a estos tipos de insectos bocarriba, luchando por colocar sus pies en la tierra. Estoy seguro que llega un momento en que se extenúan tanto que parecieran muertos porque dejan de moverse. Eso fue justamente lo que ocurrió cuando lo vi, pensé que su cuerpo estaba sin vida.

Lo toqué con una rama y comenzó a mover sus extremidades y de inmediato se sujetó de la hoja con sus afiladas patas. Como en mi casa hay muchas flores, y estos insectos son muy dóciles y no pesan mucho, se me ocurrió colocarlo en la cima de aquellos pétalos blancos. Sabía que los tallos tenían la fuerza suficiente para sostener al congorocho.

Al colocarlo sobre las flores quedó perfectamente balanceado, en calma, listo para la foto y así fue que surgió esta serie fotográfica. Calculo que el insecto tenía un tamaño de unos 9 centímetros.

En cuanto al título de este post, puedo decir dos cosas. La primera es que voy a dividir las fotos que le tomé en dos publicaciones. La segunda es que hasta el momento que el congorocho estuvo sobre las flores se comportó como una princesa, pero cuando lo coloqué en el piso para que no se cayera, allí vi al lado bestia del insecto. Esas fotos me gustaron más que estas.
