Shameless is not Shameless without Fiona?

On TV shows you know sooner or later it's time to say goodbye.

Goodbye to a character, to a location, to a narrative thread and sooner or later goodbye to the whole series.

Dozens of sequels, prequels, reboots won't be enough to make us feel less tried by one of these types of farewell.

When a series ends or our character of the heart leaves something inside us moves. It's only fiction but despite the movies with TV series the affection is greater and a protagonist that for hours and years we have admired with participation ends up becoming part of an imaginary family that lives in our hearts as serial addicted.

I've spoken little or perhaps never about one of the series that perhaps enter into your heart the most.

I'm talking about Shameless, recently in its ninth season, which ended not long ago.
The Showtime series despite the years continues to be very popular and successful.

Merit of the irreverence and unpredictability of the Gallagher family, merit of its protagonists, merit also of the dazzling beauty and skill of Emmy Rossum.

Rossum is the real-life wife of what we might consider the genius of recent years of contemporary seriality. She shares the roof with Sam Esmail, author of Mr Robot and Homecoming and increasingly on the launching pad.

Let's put this little gossip note behind us to talk about the event that shocked all Shameless fans, that is the farewell of Fiona Gallagher, played by Rossum.

In the last episode of season 9 in fact Fiona says enough.

Far from wanting to make more spoilers the abandonment of the protagonist of the series represents a key moment and very dramatic for the series itself and all viewers.

She leaves the scene with her head held high, with honor, with love and in silence.

Not a resounding farewell, almost on tiptoe his that squeaks with the soul of the series but that in a way restores dignity to a character that more human you can not.

I won't go any further.

I don't go further with words. I just wanted to pay the right tribute to one of the most complex, beloved and particular female characters of the 2000's television scene.

She leaves the scene and somewhere we'll find her again, but for now let's just say hello and pay homage.

Goodbye Fiona.
