     Hece unos minutos escribí, en mi cuenta de Twitter, que muchos confunden la cuaresma con la cuarentena, otros no comprenden el significado de esas palabras. Presumo que por esa razón no respetan a ninguna de las dos. No hacen caso a las recomendaciones que motivan a la gente a cuidarse, a apartarse de los excesos y grandes concentraciones, a mantener la distancia los unos de los otros, mucha gente irresponsable no comprender que estamos viviendo tiempos difíciles, que corremos riesgos muy serios que incluso pueden costarnos la muerte física. Pero otros tampoco entienden que este tiempo de cuaresma es para elevar el espíritu y para acercarnos a las cosas de Dios, tiempo para amar, perdonar y estar en paz. Tiempo para reflexionar lo vulnerables que somos ante un virus. ¡Acuérdate que eres polvo, y al polvo volverás! (Génesis 3:19)

A few minutes ago I wrote, on my Twitter account, that many confuse Lent with quarantine, others do not understand the meaning of those words. I presume that for that reason they do not respect either of them. They ignore the recommendations that motivate people to take care of themselves, to stay away from excesses and large concentrations, to keep their distance from each other, many irresponsible people do not understand that we are living in difficult times, that we run very serious risks that they can even cost us physical death. But others also do not understand that this time of Lent is to lift the spirit and to draw closer to the things of God, a time to love, forgive and be at peace. Time to reflect on how vulnerable we are to a virus. Remember that you are dust, and to dust you will return! (Genesis 3:19)

     Tenemos que tener en cuenta que estamos en tiempo de cuaresma pero en época de cuarentena, las dos etapas de la vida nos llaman a la moderación, a la reflexión profunda y al respeto. El confinamiento concienciado nos puede ayudar a vivir intensamente nuestra fe. En la seguridad del hogar la cuaresma se lleva mejor, es cuestión de convertir nuestra casa en morada del Señor y aprender a meditar, desde nuestra intimidad familiar, sobre la pasión, muerte y resurrección del Mesías, Jesús de Nazaret, nuestro Señor y Salvador. Vivamos la cuaresma con fe y con recogimiento en esta peligrosa época de cuarentena y confinamiento por causa del Covid 19. ¡Cuídate y protege a tus seres queridos que Dios ya lo está haciendo contigo y con toda la humanidad! Ayudemos a Dios a cuidarnos.

We have to bear in mind that we are in the season of Lent but in the time of quarantine, the two stages of life call us to moderation, deep reflection and respect. Conscious confinement can help us to live our faith intensely. In the safety of home, Lent is better, it is a matter of turning our house into the Lord's abode and learning to meditate, from our family intimacy, on the passion, death and resurrection of the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord and Savior. Let's live Lent with faith and recollection in this dangerous time of quarantine and confinement due to Covid 19. Take care of yourself and protect your loved ones that God is already doing with you and with all humanity! Let's help God to take care of us.
