Por tanto, si cuando vas a presentar tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene quejas contra ti, deja allí tu ofrenda ante el altar y vete primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y entonces vuelve a presentar tu ofrenda.

Si queremos mantener un clima de cordialidad y de armonía debemos tener presente los valores: Respeto, tolerancia, perdón y reconciliación. Sin lugar a dudas, el respeto es la clave de toda buena relación humana, ser respetuosos con nosotros mismos y con los demás, aumenta las posibilidades de vivir en paz. Ser tolerante es otro valor importante que no implica, bajo ningún concepto, dejar que otros violen nuestros derechos o traten de imponer sobre nosotros su modo de pensar. Tolerar no es permitir a otros que impongan sus creencias, costumbres o lo que les dé la gana sobre nosotros. La tolerancia también implica respeto de las partes. Aceptar a los demás no significa que debamos someternos a sus caprichos, nuestra dignidad debe permanecer incólume para poder vivir en paz. El perdón y la reconciliación van de la mano. Perdonar va más allá de una simple disculpa, perdonar de corazón es de buenos cristianos, la venganza no nos conduce a nada bueno, la rabia nos envenena como lo hace la soberbia. Nada es mas dañino a nuestra imagen, a nuestra salud física y espiritual que la soberbia. La humildad nos enaltece y nos sana el espíritu y a su vez nos acerca al prójimo y por consiguiente a Dios. Perdonar es de almas grandes. La reconciliación es lo más excelso que puede ocurrir entre las partes que estaban peleadas, separadas o se mantenían en conflicto. Perdón y reconciliación son valores que sólo experimentan los seres de espíritu elevado. El gozo de la paz duradera viene acompañado del Amor.

Nothing is more damaging to our image, to our physical and spiritual health than pride. Humility exalts us and heals our spirit and in turn brings us closer to our neighbor and therefore to God. Forgiveness is for great souls. Reconciliation is the highest thing that can happen between the parties that were fought, separated or kept in conflict. Forgiveness and reconciliation are values that only high spirited beings experience. The joy of lasting peace comes with Love.

Lectura del santo evangelio según san Mateo (5,20-26):
En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:
«Si vuestra justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
Habéis oído que se dijo a los antiguos: “No matarás”, y el que mate será reo de juicio. Pero yo os digo: todo el que se deja llevar de la cólera contra su hermano será procesado. Y si uno llama a su hermano “imbécil” tendrá que comparecer ante el Sanedrín, y si lo llama “necio”, merece la condena de la “gehena” del fuego.
Por tanto, si cuando vas a presentar tu ofrenda sobre el altar, te acuerdas allí mismo de que tu hermano tiene quejas contra ti, deja allí tu ofrenda ante el altar y vete primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano, y entonces vuelve a presentar tu ofrenda.
Con el que te pone pleito procura arreglarte en seguida, mientras vais todavía de camino, no sea que te entregue al juez y el juez al alguacil, y te metan en la cárcel. En verdad te digo que no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado el último céntimo».

A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew (5,20-26):
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
"If your righteousness is not greater than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said to the ancients: "You shall not kill," and whoever kills will be liable to judgment. But I tell you: anyone who is carried away by anger against his brother will be prosecuted. And if you call your brother "fool" you will have to appear before the Sanhedrin, and if you call him "fool", he deserves the condemnation of the "hell" of fire.
