     El Evangelio de hoy, domingo 21 de febrero de 2021, nos deja tres enseñanzas fundamentales para solidificar nuestra fe y aumentar la confianza en nosotros mismos, esas tres palabras de vida que nos deja San Marcos, en tan sólo un párrafo, tienen que ser motivo de reflexión para los cristianos en este tiempo de cuaresma. La primera luz que nos destella el Evangelio de Marcos nos dice que Jesús, siendo el Mesías, el Hijo de Dios, fue tentado en el desierto por satanás. Cuarenta días en el desierto es, para cualquier mortal, tiempo suficiente para que el ayuno y la soledad, el calor sofocante durante el día e intenso frío en las noches, hagan su efecto perjudicial en la mente de la persona, haciéndole sentir los rigores del hambre y la sed, que les hace imaginar cosas terribles o tener las experiencias más sublimes de fe. Jesús de Nazaret, siendo íntegro y a su vez un hombre de luz, pudo resistir las tentaciones a las que fue empujado y a las que voluntariamente aceptó para demostrar que también Él fue tentado y pudo vencer al demonio. Ese ejemplo dice que si podemos resistir y vencer las tentaciones. Pidamos al Espíritu Santo de Dios, la fortaleza y la templanza que requerimos para salir triunfantes de este mundo.

     La segunda lección que nos deja el Evangelio de hoy tiene que ver con la valentía, compromiso y la responsabilidad. Jesús de Nazaret, al enterarse que su primo, Juan el Bautista, el predicador de la Buena Nueva, fue arrestado no se acobardó sino que comprendió que su momento había llegado, la señal le fue dada y desde ese momento comenzó su vida pública como el Mesías, el maestro que señalaría el camino que conduce a Dios, vino para redimir al hombre y para dejar su ley del amor, de verdad y de justicia. Y la tercera enseñanza nos llega con una revelación: "el tiempo se ha cumplido, el reino de Dios está cerca"... ¡Conviértete y cree en el Evangelio!

En aquel tiempo, el Espíritu empujó a Jesús al desierto. Se quedó en el desierto cuarenta días, dejándose tentar por Satanás; vivía entre alimañas, y los ángeles le servían. Cuando arrestaron a Juan, Jesús se marchó a Galilea a proclamar el Evangelio de Dios.
Decía: «Se ha cumplido el plazo, está cerca el reino de Dios: convertíos y creed en el Evangelio.»

     Today's Gospel, Sunday, February 21, 2021, leaves us three fundamental teachings to solidify our faith and increase self-confidence, those three words of life left to us by St Mark, in just one paragraph, have to be a source of reflection for Christians in this time of Lent. The first light that flashes the Gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus, being the Messiah, the Son of God, was tempted in the wilderness by Satan. Forty days in the desert is, for any mortal, enough time for fasting and loneliness, the sweltering heat during the day and intense cold at night, to make its detrimental effect on the mind of the person, making him feel the rigors of hunger and thirst, which makes them imagine terrible things or have the most sublime experiences of faith. Jesus of Nazareth, being whole and in turn a man of light, was able to resist the temptations to which He was pushed and to which He willingly accepted to show that He too was tempted and could overcome the devil. This example says that if we can resist and overcome temptations. Let us ask the Holy Spirit of God, the strength and temperance we require to emerge triumphant from this world.

     The second lesson left to us by today's gospel has to do with courage, commitment, and responsibility. Jesus of Nazareth, upon learning that his cousin, John the Baptist, the preacher of the Good News, was arrested did not cower but understood that his time had come, the sign was given to him and from that moment began his public life as the Messiah, the teacher who would point out the way that leads to God, came to redeem man and to leave his law of love , truth and justice. And the third teaching comes to us with a revelation: "time has been fulfilled, the kingdom of God is near"... become and believe in the gospel!

At that time, the Spirit pushed Jesus into the wilderness. He stayed in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan; lived among vermin, and the angels served him. When John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee to proclaim the gospel of God.
