Why right now that I look so much alike?
It took years, suffering, hormones and scalpels, but what I now see in the mirror is me.
This upturned nose, so well done, this sinuous and domineering body, this exaggerated breast, these high cheekbones, these fleshy lips: all this is me.
With these stratospheric heels even the height has changed, it has become exaggerated like everything else, as I always wanted it to be.
Men look at me questioningly, doubtful whether it is appropriate or not to desire this body so exaggerated and so ambiguous.
An interrogative air that cannot hide a certain desire, because the doubt that I am still, in part, a man attracts and intrigues them.
Even today it is tiring to look like me, to remove those excess hairs, to take hormones, to be constantly on a diet, to walk on these heels that make me a statue, a symbolic representation of a woman but that make walking so difficult.
Yet this effort is fully rewarded by my resemblance to myself, including that part of myself that has remained as it was and where it was, including my being even a little male, within such a symbolic and exhibited femininity.
It wasn't enough for me to look like a woman, I wanted to look like THE woman, I wanted to BE the woman.
Now in the mirror I see this: THE woman, emblematic, symbolic, that I have always seen inside me but that did not come out of the mirror before.
Once upon a time a sad, effeminate male came out of the mirror and looked at himself in disgust because he didn't recognize himself.
That's why I cry, I cry because I don't like being here on the ground, feeling my blood pouring out, feeling that this masterpiece, this myself that with so much effort I made it look like me, is now dying.
Looking alike is expensive, for anyone, for those who do not send down and answer the boss and are fired, for those who decide not to pay the lace and see his shop on fire; it was also for me, that I made this life that sucks me just to be able to afford to become what I am now.
It did not last long, too short, but for this moment of life, I was beautiful.
