A Drive Along The Crooked River Scenic Highway - Part 2
Resuming The Trek
Hello again everyone and welcome to part 2 of my trip through the canyon along the Crooked River Scenic Highway. Part 1 covered the first half of the drive out of Prineville Oregon. Part 2 will conclude as we climb out of the canyon at Bowman Dam that blocks the flow of the river to create Prineville Reservoir. With one last shot of the road home after we leave the canyon.

As I said in the first post I love rock formations. Especially desert type ones. But I also try to keep an eye open for the other interests and beauty that might be nearby.
This little guy was sunning himself on the fence post. I tried to switch to my macro lens to get a better shot but he was gone before I could switch lenses. At least I ended up with this heavily cropped wide angle shot.
A few more views before getting back on the road.
Views At Big Bend
A few views of an area of the drive called Big Bend where the river makes a 180 degree turn. I guess that is one of the reasons why they call it the Crooked River. 😉
A panorama from the side of the road about half-way through the bend. Chimney rock can be seen in the distance.
There is a hike up tho Chimney Rock that I had hoped to do earlier this spring. Unfortunately with everything being closed down and the weather now getting warmer, I will probably have to wait for fall to do this hike.
Some of the road side beauty at this little stop.
A couple looks back as we leave the Big Bend area.
The Last Stretch To The Dam
Here is a shot looking up river as we head toward the dam.
A few last views of the rocks and cliffs before we leave the canyon.
Bowman Dam
A couple shots of the dam we will cross to end our drive.
Out of the canyon and heading for home we glimpse the Cascade Mountain Range. Broken top on the left followed by South, Middle and North Sister. Together the Three Sisters.

Beautiful photos, especially that one shot looking up river as you headed towards the dam! That looks like a picture-postcard! Superb photo! 💚
Thank you very much! I really liked the greenish color in the river. I saw it a couple other places but didn't really have the time this trip to investigate. Oh well, a good excuse to make a return trip. 😀
Love the last shot of the mountain range. They were all great shots, and looked like it was a nice drive. Looks like at least one die-hard fisherman down in the river on that one shot.
Thank you, we are lucky to have quite a few snow capped peaks around to photograph.
It was a wonderful drive! There were several fly fisherman out that day. I think fishing just opened up again a week or so ago so they were probably happy to be out again.
Thanks for stopping by. 😀
Astonishing pictures once again especially the panorama view of the road.
Thank you @razeiv!
I was hoping to get the full double yellow line in the shot but when I went to stitch them together in Lightroom I was a little short. Should have got less sky or took 4 images. 😀
