THE BIRTHDAY CULTURE - #MONOMAD SUNDAY

In Ghana, birthdays are celebrated in diverse and unimaginable ways by different groups of people. I will be using these monochromes to demonstrate how diverse groups in the society celebrate birthdays.

As a guy, growing up, we make friends who are there with us through thick and thin. Some of them are quite aggressive whiles majority are docile. Growing up, i have loved the later part of attitude and most of my friends are of like passion. The below picture demonstrates the extreme form of birthday celebration by aggressive friends.

The picture was taken in a boarding house school. It was a birthday celebration and a candle was lit on the birthday celebrant and made to chant joyously. You might see it as torture but then, they all enjoy it and this will repeat again with another person.

The gentle birthday celebrants are often described as feebles. I think if that is what feeble is, then i love being feeble. These are more social people but quite shy as they celebrate indoors with just a couple of responsible friends. There are drinks and little dance parties. I belong to this group.

The lonely celebrators are also there. They hide their birthdays from people and yet celebrate it like world cup.
