I had a very difficult choice between color and b&w in this series of photos. The snow becomes the main focus of the story in b&w. Details are hidden in the shroud of snow, snow lies on the ground, snow clings to fences and walls, snow fills the airspace. The second protagonist of these photographs is not obvious, but it is very important; it is the light. The light of lanterns, the light reflected by flakes of snow, the light of windows, the illumination of buildings, the light of headlights.

Color photographs are perceived differently. Only at first glance does the color in these photos seem poorly expressed. In fact, there are many color details: red stop lights, yellow trolleybus stop, green traffic lights. The details in color make the pictures look warmer.

Thank you!
The snow didn't last very long, it's going to rain on New Year's Eve too:)

That first photo is breathtaking! When I clicked on it in my Feed, I could hardly wait for it to open so I could see it full-size. The composition of the photo is wonderful, with just the right balance between open-space versus closed-space, between light versus dark. I have always liked street scenes, but this one is especially fascinating.

I liked that you called the snow and the light "protagonists" in this photo, because the shot is certainly akin to a visual story. And yes, the snow is center-stage as the main player, giving the entire scene a muted, dreamy appearance with softer edges and tremendous depth. And the light, yes, she shines so sweetly in so many places!

Also, I like how you shared that first photo in color as well as the B&W, although in this case the color version pales in comparison to the monochrome version. It's times like this when I wish I had more Hive Power so I could give you a really large upvote, as I so love that first image! As @brittandjosie said, it is like a picture postcard! Bravo! 💗

I'm so glad you liked this picture! I was very happy when I was able to catch this subject. It wasn't easy, I had to dodge and protect the camera from snow flakes. Thank you so very much!
