Flashback to a colourless paradise

It's been a while since I've visited. It even has a special "blockchain meaning", since my account was approved while I was backpacking in this paradise, six years ago.

The only grumpiness here was in this green iguana's face, since Costa Rica is bliss to any nature lover; even revisiting like this, in a #monomad challenge format.

True, the luxury everpresent green gets taken away. But monochromatic memories still provide a taste of the wilderness around these parts: forests everywhere, filled with the chirping of birds, and the howls ot the howler monkeys. And trust me, the name suits them!

Big waterfalls, small waterfalls... there's everything here! And an insane biodiversity, from the big animals, to the little ones.

Or not that little, right? I think this is a golden orb spider (Nephila genus), but can be totally off; nevertheless, it's HUGE, based on my portuguese standarts. Couldn't help admiring her, although birds, reptiles and mammals are very much more to my liking.

Racoons were also present, and I think this was the first racoon I've ever seen in my life; quietly relaxing at the tree, watching the tourists go by. A few moments later, he and his friends were (or at least a group with very similar bandits racoons was) raiding the beach, and especially tourist bags. Well, they have masks already, we can't blame them for filling the role, right?

A quick stroll further south of this country and we found this paradise beach, that spread as fas as the eyes could see, bordered by a wavy sea and palm trees. And parrots, peeking near the safety of the nest.

Truth be told, this was one of the fathers, and he wasn't that pleased to see someone pointing a camera in his direction (or her; I think this species doesn't have sexual dimorphism...)

So many species, so many landscapes. A paradise which I hope to revisit once again... sometime in the future.

I do like the true colours, especially in the creatures; but b&w have their special charm.

Amazing shots from the Land of Pura Vida! That iguana, awww... But honestly, I think the fascinating Costa Rican nature and wildlife should keep their stunning tropical colors in pictures too :)

Awesome shots! Love the toucan. Btw, what's that strange colour in the sloth?

Beautiful photos 🙂 the black and white treatment make them even more epic. Wild and untamed. I love the iguana and spider. The spider photo is great, capturing the furry section on its legs.

Keen eye you got there, I had to recheck the spider's photo to notice the fur! 😂

What kind of place whenever we go we get to see such special things which we have seen only in books but seeing them here increases our knowledge a lot.
