I have wanted to photograph this little church on that wooded hill for quite a while, but there has never been the right light when I was there.

Canon EOS R | Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM

This church is on the Georgiberg (Georgi mountain) east of the Lake Klopein (German: Klopeiner See) and it is called Georgikirche (Georgi church). It is a katholic church dedicated to the Saint Georg.
The Georgiberg is called mountain, but it is only 624 meters (2,047 feet) high.

About a week ago I made a motorbike ride over a mountain pass and then I wanted to ride around the Lake Klopein which was near.
When I rode towards the Georgiberg the rain clouds over the church looked great and I thought the scene might make a nice black & white image.

All my photos were shot with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C.

I leave all EXIF and IPTC information stored in the pictures.

On the other days there was just blue sky but on this day I have had good luck, because there have been these dark rain clouds and I didn't get wet after taking the photos 😉

Haha, yes... Don't get caught in the rain! :) It's always a better shot with some moody clouds thrown into the scene compared to just blue skies... Have a great weekend too!

When I have my rain gear with me I have stayed dry most times, but if I forget it at home you may be sure that a rain cloud will hunt me and make me wet - this time I had the rain gear with me 😁

I think that was a nice shot, of the two I like the one with the slightly thicker cloud below the church than the more dissipated diffused cloud. It adds more contrast and a sharpness to frame the church, and I like the way it kind of follows the form of the small peak.

I agree, this little cloud is quite important for the image and the thicker one does the job better 😁 On the other hand I like the clouds in the other photo better. That's why I have posted it too 😉

It really is a magical mystical picture Hannes. Love the first 2 photos in monomad. It shows the atmosphere of the dark clouds and sets the mood.

I have passed this hill and church hundred times this year and there has always been a boring blue sky, but luckily not on that day 😊

They look in color very nice too, but in monochrome the photos have more character, just as you say ... and I was only scared by the possible rain because I was on the motorbike without raingear, but I stayed dry 😊

Its just perfect 👌. This photo is so soft with a beautiful clouds and perfect shape of the hill. Precisely framed amazingly poetic. Stunning!
