One More From Last Weekend

My back has been rather unhappy with me this week (it's still holding a grudge over an old snowboarding accident) so I have been a bit more inert this week than is my norm. I'm going to try and get out and get a few photos of all the flowers that are starting to bloom later today but for now I thought I'd post a few more last weekend.

I recently got a new 50mm lens and had to test it out last weekend. These photos were all taken with it during the first march last Saturday. I've already written a bit on the events of last weekend (the city's preparations for us and the day's activities) but I saved a few of my personal favorite shots for a separate post.

These first two are from the head of the march. Marches can be a bit chaotic sometimes, the guy in the photo above was one of the group that was trying to keep people from getting in advance of the banner that was supposed to be leading the march. The first photo is of lady leading the chants at the front for a good bit of the march.

After taking photos at the front of the march for a while I dropped back into the body of the march for these last two photos. This next one may look familiar, I snapped several of this guy leading chants and included the photo immediately before this in my last post, but I like this one slightly better.

This last photo is of two of the people at the forefront of the fight for justice here in Kentucky. On the left is blogger, activist, public speaker, poet, and author Hannah Drake and on the right is Keturah Herron of ACLU of Kentucky.

Long before I knew their names, I knew these two by sight, they always seem to be there anytime something was going down. Hannah Drake's poetry is familiar to anyone who has spent a little time in Injustice Square Park, she recited her poem Formation to us in the park prior to the march (you can watch her recite her it in another setting in the video below)

That's enough staring at a computer screen for such a lovely Sunday, I'm going to see about enjoying a little of this spring weather and I will catch y'all later!
