HEMATOMA MAMA .. aka ... The Conehead Cat
Mama had this Hematoma develop on her left ear Monday....
Ear fills up with blood in space between skin and cartilage, making a huge pouch of blood. Caused my an infection.
Operated on Tuesday .. has to wear cone for three weeks then go back and get the stitches out... Mama Mia....

Operation is suppose to be the best remedy.. All the stitches prevent the hematoma from coming back.Vet said by doing nothing the blood would eventually get reabsorbed but the ear would be shriveled like a cauliflower ear...

Thanks.. Have mom separated from rest of cats..son Bear is scared of her with the cone on.. Time will tell things will get back to normal...
Poor Mama! I hope it doesn't recur. My brother's cat has a cauliflower ear: did she get it from too much head-shaking?
I don't know how you got it..just appeared monday..Vet said operation will prevent it recurring in that ear.
