The Tiles of SE Asia 🖽 Let's take a closer look at the beautiful designs

COBRAS, SHARKS AND GANGA(5).gif

SE Asia as we all know is hot. 🔥 Almost all of it save maybe if you head up to the north of Vietnam ⛰️ or can enjoy a cool respite from the heat during the rainy season. Otherwise daytime is searing hot for the most part. And where is the best place to relax in the heat of the day? On some cool floor tiles. One of the first things I remembered about Thailand is how the tiles aren't just on the floor. They go up the wall too! Easy to keep clean and cools the area down.

Styles of tiles

Have to say I never really thought too much about the different styles of tiles. I haven't built a house yet so the thought really hasn't presented itself to me. But the other day during a walk it was raining and the stepping was slippery. As I was doing my best not to bust my a** I noticed that "Hey there's some pretty cool tiles about". So I took some photos and here we are! Let's have a look :)

Normally these would be spotless as Thai shopkeepers mop the area in front of their shop every morning but with the economy in the toilet these days most of these shops have closed. Seems the few shops that have survived in the area are hair stylists. 💇🏼 Thai ladies love to look their best! I love all the different designs. One looks like a chess board! ♞ Nicely a shop put some grip on the tiles for wet days. Trust me they are slippery! I really like how each shop decided to have their own tile style. It shows a real sense of individual style!

Thanks for checking out my post and hope you enjoyed. I always try to create original content based on local style! Feel free to upvote and reblog if that rocks your boat... Have a lovely day and watch out for wet slippery tiles in your area!

Not only are they a lot cooler, but they are also much easier to clean. When I think about the carpeting that I have had in the houses i have lived in during the past I wonder how much filth is under there. It's probably better to not know.

I really love some of the old styles. I think you know the one in Cambodia I am talking about, but the tiles remind me of the Q'Bert arcade game.
