There have always been specific programming errors in the development of video games. These can be detrimental to the game experience or beneficial to us. Depending on whether they help or not, they can be categorized as "glitches" or "bugs", being "good" and "bad", respectively. So, continuing with the Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge, today I will present some of these "bugs" that I knew and that I was able to replicate at the time.

Orbe Verde en Super Mario World (SNES)

Green Orb in Super Mario World (SNES)

The first glitch I knew (I think I got to see it in Club Nintendo magazine) and that I could replicate was to obtain a green orb in Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo. This item, I remember, served to be able to finish any level instantly.

To obtain it, you had to have the fire flower's power activated, a feather as a reserve, and Yoshi. When these requirements were fulfilled, we played the initial level on the left side of Yoshi's house (I don't remember the name of the level, but it's in Yoshi's Island), and we advanced almost to the end of the level, where we found a piranha flower and a dragon. We threw a fireball without taking the coin to this flower, and to the dragon, we ate it with Yoshi so that it didn't get in the way. From there, with the L button, we moved the screen to hide a part of the stage, and we took the coin but making Yoshi stick out his tongue and jumping at the same time so that Yoshi ate the coin, but Mario took it.

It is a process, the truth, very complicated to perform, I wanted to replicate it in the emulator, but I failed. Probably emulated the glitch does not work. I looked for a video on YouTube of the process and found this one, where apparently it does it on a SNES.

I think anyone who has owned the Pokémon Red/Blue games ever tried to get MissingNo. Some succeeded, maybe some didn't, as in my case ☹️.

MissingNo (missing number) is a bug in the game, which refers to or simulates a Pokémon that does not exist or is missing. It can work as a bug or as a glitch since it can alter the graphics or benefit us with some item duplication.

When you encountered this unlisted Pokémon, the item placed in the backpack's required position increased in quantity to 128. Which, from my perspective, was good to have a lot of rare candies or master balls 😀. The exciting thing is that there are 39 MissingNo because, initially, there were going to be 190 Pokémon, of which only 151 were presented.

I know there have been thousands of bugs and glitches, but only those two are the ones that, in my opinion, caused more commotion and anxiety to want to replicate them. I only succeeded in the Super Mario World glitch, but in the console, in the emulator, I couldn't perform that glitch. I hope you liked it, see you in another publication.
