Hello Hive Gamers! Today I go into unchartered territory, I have never fought The Wither before. I was nervous but I should not have been. I had my best warriors with me, experienced with all the MC bosses, my boys: @animationimagine and @alivefoxdeadfox. We're playing on the mc.fulltimegeek.com server, it's public so join in anytime!

The Wither

There was off camera work that took a couple sessions. @animationimagine had to find a Nether Fortress and fight Wither Skeletons with Looting III on his swords in hopes that one of the skeletons would drop their head. This is called a Wither Skull.

Once he had the 3 Wither Skulls we went FAR FAR away from our bases to find a suitable place to spawn and fight the Wither. The reason it is important to fight him away from anything you care about is that he will blow up your sh*t and light everything else on fire if you can't get him under control LOL!!

I guess if you really wanted to be evil you could spawn a Wither at someone's base. It would make a great video, but you may lose a friend for life 😂 🤓

Spawning The Wither

The wither is spawned by placing 4 blocks of Soul Sand and/or Soul Soil in a T shape (see image to the left), and putting 3 wither skeleton skulls on top of the three upper blocks. The last block placed must be one of the three skulls and can be placed by the player or a Dispenser. Air blocks are required on either side of the base soul sand or soul soil block under the upper blocks (non-solid blocks such as Grass and flowers prevent the wither from spawning). The building pattern can have any orientation (including horizontal and upside-down) as well as the skulls; the wither always spawns at the foot of the pattern. When the wither has successfully spawned, it is angered and creates an explosion around itself.

Notice my hearts above my hot bar are black, and @animationimagine looks red...we both are suffering from being poisoned by the Wither Effect. Not fun...But we won! And it's nothing a golden apple or two can't cure anyhow 😁

Why did we fight the Wither?

To obtain a Nether Star which is needed to create a Beacon. We won't get into the specifics of creating a Beacon, all you need to know is that where ever you set up a Beacon you can amplify certain powers. You can run faster, jump higher, mine and attack faster. They're pretty rad!
