Path of Exile ~ Approaching Act 10 and Beyond

A couple of days ago I mentioned that, due to a need to be one with others 🤣, I decided to open up Path of Exile and make my first ever Scion and do up my first ever melee build!

And it's going really well!

At first I was a bit iffy with melee. I'm not used to diving right in; I'm used to standing back and leaping away and keeping some distance. I didn't feel very strong, at first -- while my AoE was alright, my single target was horrible -- and when I was around level 50 I was thinking of just not playing a Scion and going back to what I know best. A Witchy Witch.

I'm glad I decided to keep pushing through with this melee madness.

When I first got cyclone, I didn't use it very often. It was easier, and quicker, to attack things with my frost blades instead.

Now I still don't really use cyclone! 😅 The mere act of ice-dashing through mobs and activating the ice snap ability just insta-kills things anyway! For the most part. But now I'm using cyclone rather than frost blades on the things that don't go down so instantly, and frost blades is mostly restricted to bosses since they seem to work better.

I still really need to find a good single-target ability to use instead of frost blades! Which is more for multiple enemies too.

I'll need to investigate.

I ended up finding these spiffy gloves too!

I was a bit worried about equipping them at first. Wondering, do I freeze things enough for this? If my hits can only kill frozen enemies, I'd better make sure I can freeze enough!

My attacks at the moment have between 69% and 74% freeze chance.

And luckily, it does indeed seem enough!

My inventory was getting annoyingly filled with Heist related things, so I decided last night to clear my inventory of the cursed things. And I'd just like to say that... I really hate that you can't put the green contracts anywhere. You have to keep them on your person until you do them.

And I don't want to do them yet!

But I had no choice if I wanted a nice, clean inventory. So I grudgingly went to the place of rogues and quickly did the contracts before returning to my quest of zooming through the Acts for the sixtieth time.

This, though, is where I discovered my build is going pretty damn well! I zoomed through the Heists with ease, got a few more chaos orbs, and went along my merry way.

A few more chaos orbs and I can stare at poe.trade and find some decent stuff!

I'd just like to mention here, like I do with most of my PoE posts, that...

I WOULD PAY GOOD MONEY FOR INVENTORY EXPANSION!!!

The crazy New Zealanders don't want shit-tonnes of money thrown at them, apparently.

I don't really have my gems and supports done properly yet. And I'm finding myself in that annoying state where I can't really upgrade my gear because of socket issues.

My gloves are set! Unless I find a better version of them.

But I would love a six-socket two handed sword. And, of course, a six-socket chestpiece. And every-socket must be green and blue! I do have one red support gem socketed at the moment, but it's not there as part of my build -- more as a, "Oh! That'll be helpful for the time being while I improve things."

But I'll need to thoroughly investigate a few things too. There might be one or two good red ones that'll fit in. Never know until I actually have a look and work my build out properly.

At the moment it all just seems to be falling nicely into place, so therefore it'll be fantastic when I optimise it! 😄

I just hit Act 9 last night, so I'm almost through the long-arse slog of Act-zooming!

Looking forward to getting into the Maps, since apparently they changed the Atlas up a bit. And also getting into the Heists and Delving.

And finding all the things and perfecting all my icy shattering goodness! 😈
