I just finished Halo: The Master Chief Collection...

...and I couldn't be more surprised.

Why?

Because when Halo was released back in 2001 I had absolutely no interest in it. I hated the x-box, I hated the giant-arse controllers, and I very likely also hated that all of my friends were obsessed with it.

It took me until about 2003-2004 to sullenly play the multiplayer of the first Halo and that was the only reason why I bothered to touch it. Multiplayer with friends during giant sleep-overs.

Those were the days. We were in Year 11-12, all of my friends were gamers, and I was the pov friend who only had a Nintendo64 and a Playstation when everyone else had x-boxes and GameCubes and decent (for then) computers.

Anyway, once a month one of my friends would host what we called a Shed Night. He'd get his parents to let him set up their garage so the TV was in there, the x-box, and a whole lot of blankets and things, then we would all come over and watch movies and play games all day and most of the night, then sleep on the concrete with the blankets for a couple of hours before morning struck, haha.

The good ol' days...

Over the past couple of weeks I've been trying to find co-op games to play and Halo was smugly mentioned. We could do the campaign together, it'd be funnn, and I'd finally know what all the fuss was about.

I agreed, not out of any interest in actually playing Halo but more simply spending time with whom I was playing it with... and what I discovered was a game that turns out I actually really enjoy and kind of want to play through again now that we've finished it, haha!

Teenager Kaelci would be shocked and horrified.

So during recent nights at ungodly hours we've been playing through this. I'm running on 4 hours sleep. The horroorrrrrrr.

It's been fun though.

👀

Unfortunately I've played too many things like Unreal Tournament and have a bit of a twitch finger. The amount of times I killed my partner because he had the ill-fortune of suddenly appearing next to me, or jumping in front of me, or being directly behind me as I turned around.

Stab/shoot first, then laugh like a maniac when I realise what's happened.

It's not my fault! As far as I'm concerned, another enemy is about to chew on my face. 😅

It's been absolutely hilarious though. Have laughed so hard I've cried so many times during this Halo adventure.

All in all, after all these years I'm actually impressed with the game and the story, although I'm a bit disappointed that the campaigns seemed so short... also, the remastered version of Halo 2 looks absolutely incredible.

Annnndddd I'm actually looking forward to Halo 4 showing up in the Collection at some point so we can play through that too.

Words I never thought I would say: "I enjoyed playing Halo and I want to play it again."

Absolutely horrifying. 😅

Until next time,

Thanks for stopping by! 🎮❤️

Many many memories of me and @oblivioncubed playing HALO campaign on the original X-Box, and every iteration after until ODST. I am very fond of the multiplayer campaign in that game. It's what puts it at a 10/10 game for me.

Yeah me too. I was in a band at the time and me and my and mates would play halo after rehearsal for hours. I can still hear the music in my head from halo. Those were good memories. Seems like a lifetime ago. In remember one guy opting to drive the tank while you and your mates hitched a ride and shot anything that moved. Also hated those giant juggernaut aliens that shot that super death ray at you.

Yeah I really don't think I'd have enjoyed it neeeearly as much single player, it's so hilarious and fun-filled and amazing with another person!

Nothing will ever beat playing golf with the corpses of the previous spawn and/or golf with warthogs in Halo 1 before they were destructible. So so much fun.
