The Forgotton Anne | A little trip to my childhood | First Impressions | Indie Game

The best day of the week has arrived, Today is Wednesday of Indian or independent games for me. If you've been following me, 2 weeks ago I started writing about indie games, games that really offer a story and adventure like no other. Today is the turn of Forgotton Anne, an adventure has reminded me a little to the studio ghibli and that has made me travel to my childhood. With only 1 hour of play, it has me completely trapped. This is not a complete review, when I finish the game I will be able to write with details, this is the first impressions that I have had about the game so, let's start.

The first thing we need to know is that Forgotton Anne is a cinematic and platform adventure at the same time. We will be able to make decisions that will affect some things in the game. It's a game that preserves the traditional 2D adventure system, but adding decision making and animations that are mixed in real time, giving that cinematic aspect to the game. This game has been developed by ThroughLine and can be played on Windows, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4 , Android and iOS.

What is the game about? Since we click to start, we will discover that the game focuses on the Forgotlings, objects that are forgotten or lost by humans. These objects can be a sock, a watch, a scarf, a lamp, a stuffed animal, etc. These forgotten or lost objects come to life in another dimension called Forgotton Lands and live just like humans. Our role is to control Anne, the executor, and with her we will discover what happens after a series of attacks that are the product of a rebellion of Forgotlings and Anne must investigate what happens and keep the peace.

After 1 hour of play, I can say that 75% were investigating and moving the protagonist around. Jumping, using magic, solving pulses and talking with other characters in the game. So far, I didn't find that typical cinematic adventure where you spend the whole game watching scenes and little interaction. The platform element is present in a great %. Of course, this doesn't mean that as the game progresses, the cinematic sequences are more abundant.

As I advanced in the game, I found an element that I liked and that is the main element of the game. It's an energy called anima, although they haven't explained much, this energy is what makes everything in the world work, even those lost objects. Anne, the main character, has a bracelet that allows her to use this energy. I think it's interesting to be able to obtain this energy even by taking it away from the Forgotlings, although this may influence the story, it's up to you to find out.

As for the graphic aspect, it's very well taken care of. I like the art of the cartoons and it gives you the feeling that you are playing some kind of film from the ghibli studio, especially because there are very different elements from the usual ones or the ones that we can expect in a game or film. It also reminded me of an old movie called The Brave Little Toaster, where we will see common objects used by humans, to have life, talk and live an adventure. That was a movie I loved to watch as a kid and just the fact that the game Forgotton Anne reminded me of this movie, made a good first impression on me.

With only 1 hour of play, I don't regret having acquired Forgotton Anne. Although I still have a long way to go, I loved the story, the gameplay, the graphics, the personality of the characters, the decision making and especially the music. My score after 1 hour of play is 9/10, we'll see if that score holds up in the full review. See you in the next Wednesday of Indies games.

That game is beautiful. I love the way the animation looks. It reminds me a bit of a game called Fran Bow for some reason.

Hello mate, I didn't know the game Fran Bow, it looks good graphically. In the video game Forgotton Anne the visual aspect is very nice, I dare say that is one of its strengths in conjunction with the music.
