Dragon Ball Z: The Legend

Aspectos Relevantes de Dragon Ball Z: The Legend

Dragon Ball Z: The Legend

[English Version]

Hello Gamers, a pleasure to write for all of you again from this fascinating community, today I want to tell you about a video game that many have forgotten in time, a video game created in the 90's that I could enjoy in my childhood, this is Dragon Ball Z video game, its name is Dragon Ball Z: The Legend.

Source

The original name of this video game is Dragon Ball Z: Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu, it is created by the Japanese company TOSE and distributed by another company of the same country, Bandai. It is released in 1996, the main platform for this release was the Sega Saturn console, however, it is also released a version for Sony PlayStation. This video game is of the fighting genre and covers the story of Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball Z series.

Let's remember that at the end of the 80's and most of the 90's there was the Dragon Ball fever, which made video game companies develop their products based on this famous series, of course Dragon Ball lovers expected great video games that were worthy of representing the series, even over the years this argument is held by all fans of Akira Toriyama's creation, video games must be worthy of representing the adventures of the Sayayins and improve the graphical and gameplay aspects over the years.

In my case, I was always a fan of Dragon Ball, because of that I had several video games of this franchise in my collection, in fact I have talked about some of them before, however, this is one of the oldest I could play, because this video game is released when I was just an infant I could enjoy it several years after its release, however, I could enjoy many hours playing it, in my case I had it for my PlayStation. Before this game I could enjoy a really good version of Dragon Ball on my Super Nintendo called Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 3.

Dragon Ball Z: The Legend Highlights.

Graphics:

One of the aspects that we noticed as soon as we tried this video game are its graphics, which present the player with a different scenario to the one used in Dragon Ball fights in previous games. Instead of being a linear scenery, which can be divided into ground and sky in the case of the characters' flights, this scenery is in three dimensions, that is to say, there is more freedom of movement in the fight.

Source

2D Sprites

Despite having a three-dimensional scenario, the characters are 2D images, an unusual combination, however, for the time of development of this game is considerable the combination of 2D Sprites in a three-dimensional environment, remember that in those years in which this game is developed, the new polygonal technology was just beginning. We see in a following version for PlayStation a completely three-dimensional Dragon Ball, both in scenery and in the personal called Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout, of which I have already spoken previously.

Source

3D Scenery and More Freedom of Movement

One aspect in terms of gameplay is that in the battles the characters can travel a large part of the terrain while fighting, unlike older versions that the stage is linear and short, in this version the battles begin on the ground but much of them take place in the air, with the possibility of having great mobility around the stage both on the ground and in the air. This is quite remarkable in the videogame, because the animated series develops the fights covering a lot of ground and in many cases focused on fighting in the air.

Source

Combos and Specials

On many occasions we will be able to apply combos of punches and kicks against the opponent, in addition, a special with a super power of energy, something also that stands out in the original series, where normally the battles end after a power or a deadly energy throw that ends with the opponent, instead of finishing him with simple punches.

Source

Story

One of the aspects that I liked the most about this version of Dragon Ball is its story mode, which goes hand in hand with the original series of Dragon Ball Z, we will start in the saga of the Sayayin fighting against Vegeta and Napa, then we will advance through all the others like Freeza or Cell, each one is carried properly with a great introduction with images that remind us of each of those memorable chapters of the original series.

Source

The truth is that I am a fan of Dragon Ball and as a child I enjoyed playing Dragon Ball Z: The Legend because I felt that I was the protagonist in some way in my favorite animated series or in this case in my favorite anime. When playing I recreated the story that I had seen many times and that I loved so much, it is for that reason that this video game is special for many players like me and I am sure that it is an essential part of the good reviews that this video game got in general, having a general acceptance of more than 90% among the players.

Source

Conclusion and Personal Opinion

This great videogame makes us remember the most relevant episodes of all the original anime series giving a great reason for Dragon Ball fan gamers of the time to consider having it to play both on PlayStation and Sega Saturn. In particular this was my first video game of this fan franchise with a 3D scenario, giving a better experience in the battles due to the degree of freedom offered by this feature.

Source

I think it is a very good game, considering the technological limitations of the mid 90's the developers did a very good job to bring in a fun way the Dragon Ball series to the children of the time and present it in a very fun way in their console. Definitely a worthy videogame to represent the anime.
