Pride, Fate and Sacrifice | Facing the Hydrean: Leviathan - FFVX |EN/ES|

One of the good things FFVX provides is Titanic boss battles! On Noctis quest to fulfill his duty as future king he must gain the power of the Astrals, deities whose power he needs to use and vanquish darkness from his world. These deities are the so called summons in Final Fantasy games. One of the most spectacular ones is when Noctis faces Leviathan. This Battle is both powerful and emotional as many decisive things happen here.

I consider this fight a peak point in the story with a mayor emotional load and amazing visuals along the way. This battle involves the main Villain Ardyn, Lunafreya (favorite character), Leviathan (one of my favorite summons) and prince Noctis. After these events, The story is a straight line towards the end of this journey.

The Fight's prelude is carried by Lunafreya, the priest helping Noctis fullfill the prophesy. Luna summons leviathan and ask of her power for the prince. Leviathan is a goddess of power and pride, she despite humans as they have forgotten her over the centuries. The talk becomes agressive, but the oracle stays firm on her plea. Leviathan starts the covenant test and so the battle begins.

Now, it is time for Noctis to show his skills. With the help of Procto, Noctis reaches close to the Goddess using some kind of air bike. Water forms of leviathans attack you along the way.

Ardyn, The main villain of this story, makes his appearance to complicate things. He stabs lunafreya to drive Noctis' attention towards her. Noctis gets beaten down as he watches her beloved luna bleed out near him.

Luna take Ardyn's hand and yellow healing powers flows into it. while loosing strength she promises the Villain that peace will be felt even by him when the prophecy fulfills. I couldn't love this character more! a noble act even for the author of the world's end. THAT is a priest.

After Ardyn leaves and while she bleeds out, Lunafreya uses the last of her strength and her trident to summon the powers of the Kings of old to aid Noctis in this battle.

The True Battle Begins

Noctis receives the strength of past kings in the form of a complete Armiger, royalty ghost weapons. He lifts into the air to face the goddess again.

Blow by blow Notics stars weakening Leviathan breaking fins and scales all around. There are amazing animation for the battle here as with previous Astrals. Each weapon of the armirger serves as a homing missile to attack the goddess. AS you weaken her, cut-scenes happen moving towards the end. Noctis finally reaches leviathan's neck and rips her down from neck to tail. Battle is over.

Noctis forms a pact with the Hydrean, recovers the Ring of the Luci, but at the cost of Luna's life... This moment is the story became one of my favorites, not only for the epic battle but for how things turned out. Luna's death added the so dramatic effect with her sacrifice so Noctis could become the promised king.

Noctis hace un pacto con la Hydrean, recupera el Anillo de Luci, pero a costa de la vida de Luna ... Este momento es la historia se convirtió en una de mis favoritas, no solo por la batalla épica sino por cómo resultaron las cosas.
