After having played two Kojima games I felt like playing something more relaxed where I don't have to think too much or read huge text strings. So my first choice was to look for a game of the platform genre, one of those that are simple but entertaining, but also, I wanted to find a game that is unknown, so I found one of those many games that never left Japan and to play them and understand what they are about you have to install a translation patch (although for a game of this genre understanding the language is almost unnecessary), I found a pretty fun game of those that you complete it in a short time, but they are entertaining.
I am quite surprised with this game, as it is the first game of this genre that has a very deep and adult plot, with many plot twists and suspense... lie, we are facing another game with a simple rescue story, but despite that simplicity it is entertaining. We are Milon, a small "human" whose mission is to recover the "music" (literally) of his village, which has been stolen by an evil wizard called: Amon, but besides that, he has also kidnapped the fairy Alis, which is Milon's friend, so our hero must venture and go through a series of scenarios from which he must obtain some "magical musical instruments" that will help him in that mission, having to also release the power of these instruments since Amon, through his magic has sealed them, since he knew that using these instruments could defeat him. A simple story, but with a lot of fun and funny moments, all this thanks to the great charisma that this game transmits.
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure graphically is a pretty nice game, with lots of color and with a childish aspect quite present from beginning to end. This graphic aspect reminds me a lot of Magical Pop'n (a game I already reviewed a while ago), due to that graphic style in which the colors are part of the protagonism in the scenarios as well as in the characters.
The design of the characters are "basic" but are very well, with great definition and are sprites that despite being "basic" are very striking when we see them on screen. In addition they are very distinguishable and with great personality. This is a game with a great variety of enemies and it is quite rare for a game of this style to have so many enemies with different designs, as they usually repeat themselves a lot and only change the color or some part of the design of the character in question. As expected, what stands out the most, and by far, are the designs of the final bosses, as they are larger and in this way you can visualize the details in their sprites much better. The animations contribute a lot to the charisma of this game in their characters, as they are very good and the characters feel "alive", that is, they are not just a set of pixels with colors on the screen.
The scenarios are quite colorful and varied, being this an aspect that I really liked about this game, because even though we are in a forest, there is such a variety of elements in this scenario that it is really quite entertaining to play. From forests, to castles and ice-covered scenarios, the entertainment with DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure is assured.
The melodies of DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure are what I expected from a game of this style, they are very good and are the classic melodies that we could listen to in an adventure/platform game where fantasy is the central axis. Music according to each scenario and moment of the adventure of our protagonist and that helps the "decoration" of the scenarios along with its graphic aspect. The sound effects despite not having a great quality or variety, are more than well implemented in each section.
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure is a fairly conventional platform game but with certain elements that make its gameplay quite entertaining. In principle it is a game with a fairly simple gameplay, controlling our protagonist is quite intuitive and easy to handle, plus we will learn the mechanics in a simple and quick way, all well explained. Milon must go through a series of scenarios, which our goal is to reach the end, defeating enemies that are in our way and overcoming obstacle challenges where we must make use of our best platforming skills.
To defend against enemies, Milon can throw bubbles, which with them we can enclose them and with just a push the enemies will shoot out, similarly we can also jump on some enemies, but this does not defeat them, only leaves them paralyzed for a few moments, but serve to use them as platforms to access certain places. As is typical in this type of games, when we go forward we will find items that will help us at certain times and in certain scenarios, for example: There is an item which is a shoe with wings, which allows us to fall slowly or an item that sticks us to the walls.
As I said at the beginning, Melon will have to look for musical instruments, which will give us extra abilities such as: being able to breathe underwater, in terms of mechanics it is quite variable and very entertaining. At certain times the gameplay will change completely because in the "Bonus" phases to get the prize of that place, sometimes the game mode will change to one of "first-person shooter", where we must shoot some birds that appear on screen, very similar to Duck Hunt.
DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure is a game that despite its simplicity, is a title that will give us some hours of entertainment, a simple game but with great charisma and personality.
