Fallout New Vegas is a role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One (backwards compatible). It was officially released on October 19, 2010 by Bethesda Softworks for the aforementioned digital platforms. This video game is a saga of Fallout, it has a really good amount of content that gives a great experience to players, and more fans of role-playing games. The story of the game tells us how a messenger must deliver a package to Mr. House, who happens to be the leader of New Vegas. The messenger who on his way was attacked by some thugs, cured by a doctor who was placed robotic parts starts chasing the assailants, to recover the contents of the package that was stolen when it was intercepted by the mercenaries. This game is full of adventures for which the player will be greatly entertained. For this publication I will talk about the gameplay, focusing on the game modes, graphics and sound, as well as any other point that will help us to complement this publication.

Obsidian Entertainment is an American video game developer founded in 2003 and based in Irvine, California. It was founded by Chris Jones, Chris Avellone, Darren Monahan and Feargus Urquhart, who were employees at Black Isle Studios. This company is known for developing PC games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Neverwinter Nights 2, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout New Vegas and The Outer Worlds.

Starting with the gameplay it is important to mention that the game takes place in an open world, so the player must go through many places to find the different missions and game modes that we have in this video game. I do not want to talk about the game modes as in other publications, that is why I will mention the mode that from my point of view is the most important and which gives greater relevance to the game. This mode is the Hard Mode, where it can be activated or deactivated by the player at any time, but if we want to achieve a very high experience in a short time, we must leave it on throughout the game. This mode is also available through the use of Internet connection in which the player must worry about endless challenges that make this mode the most important, because even our character can die from dehydration and other elements of which we must take care if we want to stay alive in most of the action and adventure.

The combat system is one of the great successes that we find in this game, where the outcome of these fights will depend on whether or not we have good weapons that help us a lot when it comes to defeating our enemies, beyond that in role-playing games strategies play an important role and so we can make a plan to defeat our enemies. The best thing about this game is that we can even create our own characters, so that they are more defensive or offensive, also a balance between the two, but also that they are experts in attacks from fences or at longer distances. When defeating enemies, the player can keep their weapons, something that is very useful for players to improve their resources to improve their weapons and thus increase their experience faster in the game.

Regarding the graphics it is correct, it is not so impressive, but it is important to remember that the game is from 2010 and they use the Gamebryo graphics engine which can not be squeezed as much as the current or more recent years. The most relevant part of the graphics is the textures of both the characters and objects that make up different scenarios where the story of the game takes place, but it is necessary to note that this is somewhat insufficient when it comes to assessing this aspect of the game. The scenarios have few surprises, but it is solid and with a setting that achieves what it seeks, which is to show a desolate world, lonely for the most part, with retro references and a near future, which makes you feel uncomfortable and helpless in the unexplored terrain. The animations are not the best of the game either, as they give us a bad feeling when fighting with other opponents. What is the fluidity of the game if I thought it was really good, the textures load very fast and generally I noticed very few bugs in the game, which seems to be really good.

The sound of this game is outstanding, both the sound effects, both environmental and those that occur at the time of the battles, in addition to the dialogues between characters. The soundtrack is very good, with musical themes that are quite varied and very consistent with the environment, the situation in which we find ourselves. The Spanish dubbing is quite outstanding, where the translations were made correctly, in which the game can quickly understand what the other characters want to tell us in the many dialogues that usually have this game, as this game has good performances, and especially, a lot for the many, many possible dialogues. Overall the sound is the strongest part of this game when it comes to the technical part.

In conclusion, Fallout New Vegas is a huge role-playing game where every decision we make affects the development of the story. A wrong answer given, a character that we shoot by mistake, an outfit that we put on wrong or a path that we take by mistake can turn the game around. In the part of the gameplay I think the game can be better, it lacks some variety but not difficulty that this can be increased by the player, if he wishes. The graphics is the weakest part of the game, where the textures and modeling is the best, along with the scenarios, but the visual effects and animations leave much to be desired. The sound is the best, as it has good sound effects, Spanish translations and a fairly prominent soundtrack, with quite entertaining musical themes and very consistent with the type of game. For all of the above I give the gameplay an 8.5, the graphics a 6 and the sound a 10.

For all the above, I give a 8.2 out of 10 to Fallout New Vegas.

I'm so embarrassed that I haven't played this yet. It's just somehow ended up being pushed farther and farther down on my backlog. I really need to get my head out of my ass with this one.

Great review!
