MotoGP 20 is a video game of the motorcycle racing genre, which is responsible for simulating the 2020 season of the top category in terms of motorcycling, as is MotoGP. The game was developed by Milestone Srl for the digital platforms Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Stadia. Its distribution in the market was on April 23rd of this year by the same company that was in charge of developing the game. The game is arcade, however good improvements were made in what is the part of the physics, which gives a touch more realism because the bike share different depending on the conditions of the 'track and tires, plus it has mechanical damage which makes the game more entertaining for players, but it will talk later in what respects the gameplay, as always the graphics and sound that are another aspect that usually play in my publications, also play an important role in this game, but I comment later.

The game contains all the riders that make up the 2020 MotoGP championship, including MOTO 2 and MOTO 3. In addition they added other series such as the electric category MotoE and for the rookies this Red Bull Rookies Cup. This means that the game has several categories which is quite entertaining for players, as this is apart from the game modes. MotoGP 20 also includes all the circuits of this season 2020, which despite the changes in the calendar by the theme of the pandemic originated by the COVID-19, this maintains intact the circuits that originally are planned to be played in real life. In addition, others were added such as Donington Park and Laguna Seca.

Here I leave a video, where we observe all the pilots present in the game:

Among the game modes we have normal race mode, championship mode, trajectory mode, practice mode, history mode and online mode. In the race mode it is like the traditional, where the player chooses a circuit of his preference, a team and the driver, in addition to the normal settings such as the number of laps (distance of the race that in many cases is divided into percentages), the number of opponents (AI), settings (penalties and flags), difficulty of both the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and aids when driving, weather conditions, among other things. As for the aids are what traction control is, steering aids, for braking, gear changes (gearbox), among others. These aids can be activated or deactivated and we can also choose if we do not want aids, which are normal or moderate. In my opinion it is best to remove the aids because it is much more realistic and so we can have a better performance on track, and within the mode we can configure the options or the setting in this case of our bike, as the engine, aerodynamics in MotoGP is not as much as in other categories, the suspensions, among others.

The championship mode is like the previous mode, but the difference is that in this mode the same team and driver you selected to start the mode, will be with which you must play all season, running each of the events to accumulate as many points as possible to win the championship of drivers and teams. Then we have the trajectory mode, which is much more interesting since here we must create our own pilot and team to dispute the championship. We must go through the rookie category, to move to Moto 3, Moto 2 and finally the queen category as it is MotoGP. Despite this last mode is interesting the progression that sometimes we notice is not as much as the expectation that this mode gives us. In this mode we can have our own staff to work in the team, as well as manage the money and the evolution of the bike. Another mode that is interesting is the story, as it has the best riders who went through the premier class as Dani Pedrosa, Mick Doohan, Norifume Abe, Casey Stoner and even Valentino Rossi himself who is currently participating but is a living or active story. The challenges in this last mode are usually of three difficulties, easy, moderate and difficult, where already this is going to depend on the demand of the player.

Then we have the practice mode where it is like the normal race the only thing is that we are not with other riders on the track, but we are turning alone to improve our lap times and even make our bike configuration for each of the different circuits. Also the game has challenges against the clock to try to beat the records of each of the official circuits that are available in the game. Finally we have online mode where you can play up to a maximum of players, which seems very little to me as at least should participate in the game the full grid of 22 pilots. In this mode there can also be both public races where you can join any player or private ones where they are normally used for virtual championships organized by the communities formed by the players of MotoGP 20 World, where not only are the competitions, but we can interact and share our achievements with others. In the online mode what is needed is the split screen to play against our family or friends in the same console.

As for the physics, the game has improved greatly or at least that's what I noticed. There are more mechanical damages in the races, which makes this game much more realistic than others, besides the changes in the behavior on the bike by the temperature changes in the track conditions. Another thing is that we must manage the tires and fuel, but of course they are not indispensable as other games that are more real racing simulators. Finally there is the Artificial Intelligence that although it is not bad, because it continues with many mistakes that a pilot would not make, this is something that the truth I am quite disappointed and I hope it is revised and improved in future presentations of this franchise.

Graphically the game is not the best but it is quite correct. The best thing is the modeling of the bikes and the textures of the riders as well as the objects that make up the scenarios that take place in the races. The scenarios are well created and detailed, but not only that but it has a good lighting system thanks to the graphic engine used by the creator and developer of the game. Another thing that I like a lot but is not perfect are the visual effects like the smoke of the tires when we pass in the brakes, the sparks that make the motorcycles at the moment of the crashes or the misleading. When it comes to rainy weather conditions, the game looks pretty good. One part that I find quite negative is the visual damage system that has disappointed me. What is the game interface is very nice, besides that they show scenes of the podiums that although it is something interesting I do not like the quality of the profiles of the drivers and characters that we see, besides that the presentation of the starting grid has taken a step back from the previous presentations. The animations are very good, where we see the mechanics showing the posters with information for the drivers on the main straight. In short, a correct section, but with things that should have been better used.

The sound is a little better than the previous section however it has its shortcomings. The good thing is the difference between the noises of the engines of different brands that are different from each other, but the noise itself is not more than correct. The sound effects are good. Now something that is always positive is the presence of the voices of the track engineer that although it does not play an important role as in other categories such as F1, because here it is also important. The game has a commentator that is good, but the voice is the same as the presentation of 2013 which is something that must be improved. Another thing is the soundtrack that is quite entertaining, we can listen to it both on the menu and at the beginning of the events, what is missing is a greater variety. The game is available in Spanish, which is really good for the millions of Spanish-speaking players in the world who like this type of game.

In conclusion, MotoGP 20 is a game that is quite entertaining for the amount of game modes that we have available where I personally highlight the path mode, the history mode and the mode that always can never miss the online mode, where the latter only missing is the split screen mode to enjoy with our friends or family. The artificial AI is not bad at all but it still makes many mistakes that are not common for a real rider, but if you have noticed a great improvement in the physics of the bike, both by the variation in its compartment and more because now we must save more tires and fuel. Graphically the game disappointed me and not because it is totally bad, but because we always expect more from these games and more of those of 2020 that use good graphic engines. In general the game in the graphic section is correct with good things and others that are not so good or at least can be better. The sound section if it is better than the previous but still has its shortcomings or things that do not pass to be correct. In short, for all the said is that I give a 9.6 as for the playability, a 7 to the graphics and a 8 to the sound section.

For the outstanding and not so outstanding aspects of this publication, I give an 8.2 out of 10 overall score to Game review: MotoGP 20.
