The threat of the mobile market to PC games

An ever-expanding audience, reduced development costs and more revenue options. Why bother making PC games?

PC gaming, come back :(

More and more kids are satisfied with just their phones. If they really want to get into gaming, they get a console. This makes of PC the primary home for two types of games only: indies and ports.

This is why we don't see any grand-scale RTS projects anymore. The last real one we got was Starcraft II, and it is still the only viable competitive choice. Which unfortunately makes sense, since the PC market is just not as attractive as it used to be. It's not going to get any real investment.

League of Legends has become nothing more than a champion skins cash-grab and a big advertisement for Teamfight Tactics going mobile. The Steam store is filling up with mobile ports. Other iconic franchises, like Sonic and Diablo, have been trailing the same path.

We won't get a decent Ragnarok Online successor when it is already the next big thing on mobile. When ports like this and the not-so-casual Free Fire gets a ton of love and profit, why bother making AAA for PCs at all? The future of PC gaming is worrying.
