Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge: The 5 Video Games I Would Like To See Remade
This post is my final casual entry for the Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge for the Hive Gaming Community initiated by @marcoquin.
Sometimes you finished a great retro video game in the past and you feel mighty satisfied. But then along something came later which had better graphics but never the same gameplay and story but feels a bit similar with that retro game you have beaten long ago.
You feel that your favorite retro video games would have been much better if updated with new graphics, cut-scenes of the story, gameplay tweaks, and other fertile things in your imagination that would make the game better.
Me too. I got that crazy feeling sometimes while playing. If I had the money, I would pay some good video game/fan developers to make hacks and mods of my favorite retro games.
So here are the top 5 retro video games I would love to have remade:
5. Front Mission 3 (PlayStation)
Arguably, Front Mission was the best mech-based strategy rpg series. And Front Mission 3 was the best of them.
An HD remaster would be nice with the mechs updated with designs from Front Missions 4, 5 or Front Mission Evolved, or whichever had the coolest looking mech designs. Some FMV character cutscenes would be great too.
4. Bloody Roar 4 (PlayStation 2)
A decent fighting game. But it is the worst in the Bloody Roar series. I would like to have an HD remaster with brighter lighting, better-looking stages, and some better balance character tweaks.
Oh, and that stupid and cheesy, early Beast Rage activation feature must be removed too.
3. Vanguard Bandits (PlayStation)
Vanguard Bandits is a very underrated mech-based strategy RPG. Just give me an HD remaster with cel-shaded battles of the mechs involved instead of using 3-D sprites and that's it.
If done, I think I will be floating damn high in strategy RPG heaven!
2. Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (Super Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis)
This beat-'em classic up would have been a thousand times better if it would be HD remade using the awesome graphics engine of Streets of Rage 4.
Oh, and make that with a 2 player option, please! Spider-Man and Venom together beating up the bad guys is so damn epic.
1. Suikoden II (Playstation)
The best game in the Suikoden series of RPGs! If only the game rights owner, Konami, would listen to us Suikoden fans, the HD remaster of this marvelous classic would have been released sooner.
Don't mess with the classic graphics style. As for me, I only want bug-fixes, good translations, more FMVs, and a highly moddable game like what Bethesda has done with Skyrim.
A highly-modded Suikoden II? Imagine what great mod additions the true fans would bring!
