What's Buzzing Friends...
Who here is familiar with that phrase from The Hobbit, "One Does Not Simply Walk into Mordor"? Well now there may be more truth that statement than just a fictional epic line from Boromir.
To address this we have to look to the stars, and to NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft. In July 2015, New Horizons flew past Pluto taking some amazing photos. For those who do not know, Pluto is the ninth planet in our solar system (* some say it's not a planet, but we still think it is #PlutoLove).
NASA asked the public to name some features that were on the planet and its moons. To some dismay this time we did not get a Boaty McBoatface, we did instead get some really fun words to name features.
Such as the dark region on the North Pole of Pluto’s moon, "Charon" was named "Mordor". Heck YEA! HAHA good luck in getting your ring to that location hobbit. Also, they named the South Pole dark spot "Cthulu" from H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulu Mythos. With these new names now Charon sounds like a lovely planet to visit, let me just pack my Louis Vuitton suit of eternal torment.
So while now its actually factual that you cannot simply, "walk into "Mordor"... you can however quite simply read on into this week's updates from D.Buzz. Let's get to it!
