What is your long term prepping plan for wood for heat etc.?
I have heard a lot of preppers list wood as their renewable resource for SHTF energy needs. While I agree with that choice, most people don't have the 200+ acres needed to grow enough wood to provide that much heat.
One Man is planning to use rolled up junk Mail for a substitute fuel source. He has half a dozen PO Boxes, and signs up for everything he can. I haven't asked him what he will do if the mail stops running....
My plan is a little simpler, I intend to harvest driftwood off the local lake. It continually refills, and is often very high and dry.
There is a Lot of free wood around a large lake:
Some will move first like this one, and others will need to be chainsawed up first

I will use a chain hoist or winch to pull these logs.

All will just rot if not used.

It's another 30 plus miles more of lake on the north leg of the lake.
Hope this gives some people some new ideas on wood harvesting, prepping is becoming critical now! Stay warm, and keep dry!

You're lucky there, but it usually means it gets hotter in the summer. I guess everything is a tradeoff....

Life is a trade off...but more people freeze than die from heat Exhaustion! So it is a good trade.
Cut A trench 2 foot deep and bury pipe in it. When it gets hot, run air through the pipe and it will cool your house! They call it an Earth battery....

I would prefer to live somewhere wood heat is not essential for 6 months out of the year in that kind of survival scenario.
That would be wise, but the summer heat further south can be hard too. It is hard to use wood to cool your house....
Everything is a trade off, one way or another! My primary heat and cool will be an Earth battery and off grid electrical, with wood as a backup heat source.

As someone who lives in Finland, wood is the least of our problems here. I am not like a hardcore prepper but in the near future I plan on moving away from the city and into a house with fireplaces as one of the source for heating and cooking. People living in cities are in huge trouble if there ever is a major powercut during the winter. Most people won't even be able to warm a cup of hot water, let alone heat up the apartment. We are in an energy crisis and most people aren't even aware of it yet.
Totally true, those not ready will have a much harder time! Wood is not a bad heat source, it will save a lot of prepared people! The Earth battery would need to be buried deeper there, but it would still work well.
Your plans are good. You have the same problem I have, getting moved before the economy crashes! I hope we both win.

There has been a price increase on detached houses over the last year when people were forced to work and study from home. What a nightmare it would be to do that in a 50 square metre apartment with multiple people!
If all else fails, I can always just move back in with my parents in the middle of nowhere 😅
Moving back to the parents is a good idea. It is quicker, and will let you take care of them too! Good plan, and the "middle of nowhere" is the best place to be.
I bought a 9 meter long travel trailer to use until I can finish the repairs on the main building. Kind of a lifeboat to allow me to move sooner.

True, a lake this big, is a resource for sure! Water, protein, and transportation all in one.
My water source will be: well, then rainwater catchment, with the third source being the lake. The water well will be powered by solar, with a backup manual pump.
I like the wood source, it should work well!

Well at least you will be quite a bit farther along than individuals like myself who are just going to have to find what ever shelter and accommodations.
You never know we can see what all happens here in the future maybe me and dog might actually be able to get a small piece planned and then get started building infrastructure.

@queenmountian decided to build a stone house! Just started working with a shovel so hopefully me and other friends can throw some boats that way to get individuals to support and empower these efforts.
We really should get a little group going so that we can build up enough resources to eventually support individuals making larger steps as well as doing work trade me and puppy dog aren't doing anything right now and we could be helping somebody out while getting rewarded as well!

My son just found some property on Keystone lake for $1500, so he'll be moving soon too. You have an RV, so with a piece of dirt, you have a big out location!
I put a travel trailer there to use as a lifeboat while I work on the main house. Just in case I'm not fast enough.

Well now here is where I've been saying that it needs to be having some community involvement and they should get resources for real situations and issues.
However the community really shouldn't be targeted and harassed with false reports. Or let alone intimidation and threats.
I got a threat that they were going to download me for the next 10 years.
Like I said I'm really not scared because I've got what 10 grand worth of crypto and I'm making liquid rewards everyday and a part of diesel pools which is really taking up more of my time than just hanging out and conversating with people on this amazing blockchain as well as all my friends because of the threat of being blacklisted.
Hive watchers should be turned loose on scams and empowered to deal with those situations however there really should be some community involvement.
And I'll be honest maybe and probably I did break a couple of small rules in small ways. Sure go ahead and throw votes and flag using resources that could be going towards really dealing with other situations.

Kind of annoying but of course the community needs to deal with that situation and not hand over total control and authority to a shadow organization.

I was going to be promoting Hive at the big event that I went to in California and me and my buddy were going to get some pictures with the grand Masters with them holding a little piece of paper saying hive.blog however because of the craziness that happens every time I'm promoting the blockchain kind of like getting flagged for the steam Meetup accident post. Sue me that a real person for the blockchain walked up to me and I accidentally hit the post button and posted a empty post. I was totally going to go back and edit that however it got down voted so why even go back and add pictures and edit that post.
It kind of seems like unless these individuals are getting paid directly somehow they really don't want meetups or connections with other human beings to really grow.
And here I am doing all sorts of fun things like having new individuals with killer content start a little community that actually really is taking off...

A friend of mine showed me him getting ballots for himself his wife and his dead father and dead mom all registered Democrat.....
