Prompt A Day | Rest If You Must

Prompt A Day challenge continues on its third week. First of all, I would like to thank @shadowspub for the shoutout and email feature. This challenge has motivated me further in posting daily on Steem. It's a worthwhile journey where I learn many new stuff every day. I'm happy to be sharing my experiences too along the way.

For today, I chose 'Quote of the Day' prompt:

"Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity." -- Louis Pasteur

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

I remember the poem "Don't Quit." I have practically known it since my teen years. The message rang deeply within me. I even have a small poster of it that still hangs on my bedroom wall.

When I'm feeling down and low, reading this poetry somehow fires me up.

When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

On a side note, I just discovered who wrote this poem. Thus, I also learned that this poem is in the public domain. Source

Just like in today's quote, I believe in being tenacious, but I do not believe that it is a secret. I've been a staunch supporter of planning and setting goals. But more than the planning and setting, one must also take steps. I suppose this is in line with my catchword for the year 2020.

When I started out on Steem a few months back, I was getting discouraged with the lack of positive results. However, instead of simply giving up, I decided to go the extra mile of discovering how others have become more successful on the platform. I'm far from knowing all the answers to my questions. I simply take each day as a road to discovery.

Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Funny how this reminds me of our claw machine experience. If we didn't quit when we did, we could have gotten that green kitty plushie. Instead, someone else got it. Bummer!

Now looking back, I'm glad I didn't quit posting on Steem despite the lack of positive results in the beginning. I wouldn't be where I am now, if I quit. Keep moving forward. That's what I always say to myself. That's probably my life's slogan at of the present moment.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

If you find yourself getting discouraged, find ways to motivate and inspire yourself. One way is to surround yourself with positive people. Enthusiasm is infectious in a good sense.

As much as you can help it, stay away from drama. Personally, I have declared my space as a "no drama zone." It's not helpful, and it does me no good, so I stay away from it.

And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Being fairly new to Steem, I have no memories of what it was like prior to HF21 etc. Thus, I couldn't compare whether it was better now or not. I do find the downvoting process a bit annoying, as it paves a way for some folks to abuse the system.

All in all, I could say that my Steem journey is satisfying. I just need to find a way to manage my time better, so I could avoid losing sleep while attempting to do everything on my to-do list. And if I ever get too tired, I'll remember to rest if I must, but not quit.

I have loved that poem since I was an early teen too. I used to have a bookmark which my mom gave me that had it printed. Those words have also stuck with me my entire life.
