The Field is Life [Channel Review] ESP/ENG
Today I'm here to tell you about a channel I recently discovered. I actually found the content on TikTok, if I'm not mistaken, or maybe it was on Instagram. The videos were short, so I decided to look for them on YouTube to see if they had longer ones, and sure enough, I found them. The channel is called El Campo es Vida (The Countryside is Life), and as the name suggests, the content focuses on rural life. It even has a few videos about ingredients you can find in the countryside and other rural areas to make potions and infusions that serve as home remedies. There's also a pretty comprehensive, entertaining, and above all, informative video about how to tell real honey from artificial honey. However, the videos that make the biggest impact and dominate the channel are the ones focused on the paranormal.
Hoy vengo con la intención de hablarles de un canal que descubrí hace poco, realmente el contenido que yo encontré fue a través de Tik tok, si no estoy mal, o quizá fue en instagram, el caso es que el formato era corto, de modo que me propuse buscar el contenido en youtube para ver si tenía videos largos y efectivamente lo encontré, el canal se llama El Campo es Vida, y tal como su nombre lo indica el contenido va enfocado a los asuntos del campo, incluso tiene algún que otro video donde habla sobre ingredientes que se pueden encontrar en el campo y demás area rurales en general para elaborar pociones e infusiones que sirven de remedios caseros, también tiene un video bastante completo, entretenido y sobre todo informativo acerca de como diferenciar la miel real de la artificial. Sin embargo los videos que más impactan y que imperan en casi todo el canal son los que están enfocados en el tema paranormal.
The concept is very minimalist. Behind the narrator, you won't find elaborate sets or special effects, not even supporting images. It's simply the narrator sitting in a hammock, recounting stories that happened to his family in the countryside, or perhaps a few stories from his own subscribers. The best part, aside from the stories themselves, is his narration style, emphasizing the most important parts, respecting pauses, and even imitating characters' voices and using onomatopoeia to enhance the narrative. I think this style feels more personal, more intimate, as if you were listening to a live story from a family member or friend.
El concepto es muy minimalista, detrás del narrador no vas a encontrar una gran escenografía ni tampoco efectos especiales, ni siquiera hay imágenes de apoyo, es simplemente el narrador sentado en una hamaca mientras cuenta historias que le ocurrieron a su familia en el campo o quizá alguna que otra historia de sus propios suscriptores. Lo mejor de todo, a parte de lo interesante de las historias, es la manera en que él hace la narración, haciendo énfasis en las partes más importantes, respetando las pausas e incluso imitando voces de personajes y haciendo onomatopeyas para enfatizar la narrativa. Pienso que este estilo es más personal, más cercano, como si estuvieses escuchando una historia en vivo y en directo de algún familiar o amigo tuyo.
The video that scared me the most is one about a man riding a horse at night through the mountains. Suddenly, he heard a baby crying, or at least what sounded like a baby. He put it on his back and continued on his way. From the moment he picked up the baby, he noticed the horse becoming restless. Then the supposed baby started behaving very erratically and inappropriately for a child its age. It spoke, saying it had a tail and points, and in an adult tone of voice. To top it all off, it transformed into a hideous creature that crawled back into the mountains. However, what makes each story terrifying is the emphasis he gives to every word, the focus and passion of his narration, the tone of voice that changes depending on the character—everything. I, at least, find it very interesting.
El video que más me dio miedo es uno sobre un hombre que iba a caballo de noche por una montaña, de pronto escuchó a un bebé llorar, o lo que al menos parecía un bebé, entonces lo subió sobre su espalda y continuó el camino, aunque desde el mismo momento en que tomó al bebé, él notó que el caballo se empezó a poner inquieto, sin embargo después el supuesto bebé empezó a tener un comportamiento muy errático e impropio de un niño de su edad, hablaba diciendo que tenía cola y puntas, y además con un tono de voz adulto, y para colmo se convirtió en una criatura espantosa que se fue arrastrando hacia el monte. No obstante lo que vuelve aterradora cada historia es el énfasis que él le da a cada palabra, el enfoque y la pasión de su narración, el tono de voz que va cambiando según el personaje, todo, de verdad que a mi al menos me resulta muy interesante.
I think there should be more channels like these that connect us a little more to our roots. I don't know what country the man in the videos is from, but regardless of where he is, he reminds us that stories are similar in all countries. Grandparents and other older people who live or have lived in rural environments are always wary and cautious, and they never refuse advice, especially to skeptics from the city.
Pienso que debería existir más canales como estos que nos conecten un poco más a nuestras raíces, yo ignoro de que país es el hombre que aparece en los videos, pero independientemente de donde sea nos hace recordar que las historias son similares en todos los países, los abuelos y demás personas mayores que viven o han vivido en entornos rurales siempre suelen ser desconfiados y precavidos, además jamás niegan un consejo, en especial a los escépticos de la ciudad.

What an interesting channel you've found. When you mentioned you didn't know which country the author was from, I tried to look it up but another channel came up, one from Spain. I think he might be Argentine; his accent sounds like the country folk over there, I've met a few who spoke like that.
It’s true, stories from the countryside are like that; there are strange, out-of-the-ordinary things that happen at night when it seems as though you can’t hear a thing. And that story about the baby that wasn’t a baby… spine-chilling!!! I like the way he tells the stories, and it doesn’t matter that there aren’t any grand sets; what matters is the charisma he has for telling them. He’s excellent. Sí, esa historia del bebé me dio mucho escalofrío, y fíjate que mi hermana mayor dice que nuestra abuela tenía una anécdota así parecida pero con un bebé con dientes, esas son historias que demuestran el miedo arraigado en la cultura, cada país tiene sus propias criaturas, demonios y espectros pero eso forma parte de nuestra riqueza cultural.
