Tennessee Titans add veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph to the roster

This past week the Titans added a key, well established veteran to the team's secondary. Props to General Manager Jon Robinson once again because I think this signing is really solid!

I like the Titans squad of corners, but losing Logan Ryan was tough. This off-season Robinson and the team has done a solid job overall to make me a lot less worried about the position group.

The team's top corners after Ryan left were Malcolm Butler, Adoree Jackson, and Tye Smith. There's other notable guys that have seen playing time, like Kareem Orr. But the Titans definitely needed help at the corner position itself.

So since Ryan left, the Titans have drafted a seemingly very good prospect in rookie Kristian Fulton and now they have signed a quality vet in Johnathan Joseph.

Johnathan Joseph has been in the NFL since 2006. Been a starter virtually the entire time. Those two facts alone are very impressive. He's a two time pro-bowler and was named a second-team all pro once.

He was a first round draft pick all the way back in 2006, selected by the Cincinnati Bengals. Joseph spent five seasons with the Bengals until he signed with the dreaded Houston Texans in the summer of 2011. Joseph went on to play for the Texans for the next nine years, becoming a free agent this off-season.

So as a Titans fan I am pretty familiar with Johnathan Joseph and his ability. The guy is a stud! He seems very cool and professional when he spoke at his initial opening press conference as a Titan. Joseph himself is still a very good player even at the age of thirty-six. He can help guide a lot of these younger guys and overall be a good presence in the locker room. His tremendous experience of fourteen seasons can hopefully be a positive impact for the whole team!

Joseph previously played with some of current Titans coaches, like secondary coach Anthony Midget and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel from when all three were with the Texans. Hopefully Joseph can maybe bring some intel over from Houston so the Titans can beat the team who has mostly been dominating the AFC South in the past five to six seasons. Of course he is also familiar with playing the Colts and Jaguars which is a plus as well.

Overall this is just an awesome signing for the Titans and I am very glad Johnathan Joseph will be Titan in 2020.

So right now the Titans top four corners are:

  • Malcolm Butler
  • Adoree Jackson
  • Johnathan Joseph
  • Kristian Fulton

I like those four, hopefully they can stay healthy!

The Titans fifth and sixth corners as of now would probably be Tye Smith and Kareem Orr. Late round pick Chris Jackson played corner in college although he may also be used as a safety. Jackson's versatility could be handy when it comes to the team's depth at corner. Of course I am not a coach and perahps a player will perform well in camp and surprise everyone this season. It is only May!

Titan up!
