Top 30 Organic Engagement through Comments - 12-08-2020

On Hive, we talk a lot about engagement and some of our top authors and stakeholders are also taking lots of initiatives to create more engagement on the Hive blockchain. Engagement comes through reading many posts from others and adding valuable comments on their posts. I wanted to pull out this data every day from the blockchain and make a post so that authors who are adding more comments and engagement will get motivation.

To start with I had to do lots of manual review work to get rid of the accounts that are either an automated commenting account or spam accounts that add random comments to spam. I came up with the below list of accounts that I have ignored from my report above.

Could you please share with me the criteria that you use to measure No of Comments on Top 30 Commenters with filter ?

Does the total number of comments count the comments on their own post ?

Does it include second comment on the same post ?

Yes, I actually take the number of comments as the criteria. Based on the number of comments a user has made, I bring the top 30 people.

Does it include a second comment on the same post?

Yes, it includes all the comments. Even the replies. If someone had made more than one comment on the same post, it would still be considered as individual comment and it will also be considered. 🙂

The problem is some people never comment on other people post and still end up in top 30.

My definition of engagement = Comments on other people post

Ya, I get your point, I will try to add a few more parameters like how Abh12345 does in Engagement League and rank them based on that. Right now I rank only based on the number of comments they do.
