Ruben y Lou conforman una banda de heavy metal llamada Blackgammon, viajan en una casa rodante por todo el país en su gira, tocando y vendiendo su mercancía. Ruben un día empieza a escuchar un pitido en su oído y decide ir a la farmacia por un medicamento que lo ayude, el farmaceuta no puede hacerse entender porque Ruben no escucha bien, llega al doctor y descubre el principio de su nueva vida, empieza a quedarse sordo y debe adaptarse o pagar por una cirugía muy costosa.

Ruben and Lou make up a heavy metal band called Blackgammon, they travel in an RV around the country on their tour, playing and selling their wares. Ruben one day begins to hear a beep in his ear and decides to go to the pharmacy for a medicine to help him, the pharmacist cannot make himself understood because Ruben does not listen well, he comes to the doctor and discovers the beginning of his new life, he begins to go deaf and have to adjust or pay for a very expensive surgery.

La sinopsis de la película es bastante curiosa, cosa que atrajo mi atención para verla. Creo no haber visto al actor Riz Ahmed (Ruben) en otra película pero llamo mi atención conforme iba pasando la película por su actuación y el personaje, las situaciones en donde entra el personaje y como lidia con cada una de ellas, es realmente humano, es real.

La película además de tener una historia interesante, tiene una banda sonora increíble, no por la música claramente, sino por como te hacen ver el mundo desde la perspectiva de alguien que se esta quedando sordo, los sonidos que empiezan a bajar y a subir, se distorsionan, se escuchan lejanos, te hacen ser empático con el personaje.

A simple vista lo pude ver como una película con una historia nueva, pero al reflexionar un poco de lo que vi, su final y su desarrollo, es una película reflexiva que puede ayudar a algunos que pasen por lo mismo. Estar cerca de la realidad es lo esencial para mí en una película, porque puedo entrar en esa película y ser su protagonista, El sonido del metal me hizo entrar, me hizo ver todo desde los ojos del protagonista, me hizo recordar que a veces, lo mejor es tener quietud.

The synopsis of the film is quite curious, which attracted my attention to see it. I think I have not seen the actor Riz Ahmed (Ruben) in another film but it caught my attention as the film went through his acting and the character, the situations where the character enters and how he deals with each one of them, it is really human, it is real.

The film, in addition to having an interesting story, has an incredible soundtrack, not because of the music obviusly, but because of how they make you see the world from the perspective of someone who is going deaf, the sounds that begin to fall and rise, are they distort, they sound distant, they make you empathize with the character.

At first glance I could see it as a movie with a new story, but reflecting a bit on what I saw, its end and its development, it is a reflective film that can help some who go through the same thing. Being close to reality is the essential thing for me in a movie, because I can enter that movie and be its protagonist, The sound of metal made me enter, it made me see everything from the protagonist's eyes, it made me remember that sometimes, it is best to be quiet.
