The Changing Dynamics of Splinterlands Battle Strategies

এমন অনেক কিছুই হবে, যা কেউ কখনো দেখে নি আগে।

This is from a pretty old Bengali advertisement about an energy drink, I think. Roughly translated, this means "Many such things will happen, that no one has ever seen before." Okay, okay. I get that the translation may not sound very dramatic, but trust me, it was pretty dramatic in the advertisement. I would have linked to the video of the advertisement, but it was so long ago, I can't remember the name of the brand and the google searches with these words lead to dead ends.

Whichever language it sounds more dramatic in, it surely is nowhere near as dramatic as a FLYING GOBLIN MECH! Who would have thought we'd see a day when every beginners favorite heavyweight tank, Goblin Mech, would fly! That is now a reality with the new Dice Dragon Summoner, Brighton Bloom, also known as the Flying Dude. Okay, not really. Not yet, at least. But dada calls him the flying dude and I am going to gracefully steal it from him, without his permission. Feel free to flag! Oh, and the flying goblin mech, that was his too ;)

From time to time, @azircon dada and I will do a few practice battles, test new strategies and all that good stuff. So after dada became probably the first player to have a fully maxed Dice set (you can read all about it Here), we went for a test ride. Dada promised to use as many of the new one as he could ;)

Of all the new summoners, I was least impressed with Vera Salacia. The "Snare" to all didn't appeal to me as much as Owster Rotwell's reflect, or Lorna Shine's Divine Shield. But guess what, the first battle against dada's Vera Salacia opened my eyes to a wide variety of complexities that battle strategies can now have.

This Battle is particularly important in the changing dynamics of battle strategies going forward. In low mana games, the Cocatrice had become a legend for drawing missed attacks. So much so, that it's almost unfair on the Coca it isn't a legendary monster! There is an ancient myth, Jacekw's cocatrice once evaded even magic attack! Whether you believe in myths or not is of no value here.

"Can not miss" are the keywords here. When all the monsters on the team has snare, all it takes is just one of them to hit the Cocatrice, once. And that's it, even a creeping ooze will now hit your Cocatrice. Outrageous, right! Am I kidding? Watch the battle and you tell me! I'll be honest, never, for once, did I ever think I'd see a creeping ooze hit a Cocatrice in this lifetime and yet, here we are!

With Vera Salacia and Brighton Bloom, earthquake battles and low mana Cocatrice battles now have an entirely new dimension of strategies to think about. Hell, even the furious chicken can fly now!

Everyone can Fly.jpg

Dada used Lorna Shine in one of the battles and we just got a small taste of what it can do. But the possibilities are endless and I need to see her more in action to get a full understanding of the complexities she will add to strategies. Besides the obvious no damage on first attack, off the top of my head, Lorna could be a good choice in an earthquake battle too. Essentially the earthquake will be irrelevant to a few of the monsters in round 1 who haven't been hit yet.

It's been only a few days since the release of the dice monsters and the summoners alone have my head spinning already! As we face/use more of these new additions, the more we'll realize how things are changing. One thing is for sure, nothing about splinterlands battle strategies is ever going to be the same anymore!

Not impressed with Vera, eh? I am now calling her the "Water Babe" :)

image.png

That is the battle rule, so you can't use Dragon Splinter; and our "Flying Dude" is out of the equation. Now what? :)

Here is the start of the battle: Water vs. Water. My opponents water team is stronger than my water water team. Who will win?

image.png

Check it out yourself :)

Not only we can make Goblin Mech fly now, but also we can bring down all the flying birds! That's the power of the Water Babe!

I am telling you, its the rare summoners that's going to make the difference on all leagues. I am loving my Water Babe!

But with all this testing, here is the rub:

image.png

Normally I play about 250-280 battles a season. This time of the season, I like to be close to 5050, and should stop playing, as I hate to play in the last 24 hours. But, look what I did to myself, my win-rate in the gutters... :(

for the greater good doc, for the greater good ....

😀

The retaliation between the naga warriors was hilarious! But this battle is a classic example of things to come! #waterbabe :D

I like these summoners a lot too. Now I only need to see the worth of the fire summoner. I haven't seen the earth summoner in action yet, but I already like thorns ability, so I'm sure he will be cool! I gotta rent a few of these once people start renting them out.

Don't worry about the leaderboard and win rates dada, you will be miles ahead of most players next season. Just having these cards is not enough, the experience to use them in the correct scenarios is equally important. For the greater good.

I don't care about my rank, but pulling wins like this below gives me big grins! This is Life Splinter, used to be the splinter I hated. I still have the most incomplete deck there :)

The Ninja Babe will change that! Tell me who will win? :)

Thanks for sharing! - @ashikstd

Nice analysis.
Players can learn something great from this post.

And about the advertisement... you're too brilliant to remember the whole sentence even when you can't find it on the internet.
Cheers.
