My Stellar Start Into Splinterlands

One of my first booster packs contained this gem

Most people in this community won't know me. But I hang out in the PALnet discord pretty much 24/7. As such it is practically impossible to not hear about Splinterlands a few times a week in there. Now that may be because Neil does a weekly show on Splinterlands in the PALnet discord for MSPwaves, but often it comes up on other shows as well. Luckily my piqued curiosity coincided with some steem powerdown payouts and Splinterlands moving mainly to Hive. Therefore I couldn't resist. I purchased the spell book and over the next three weeks I opened 25 booster packs. Thanks Justin Sun for allowing me to check out this wonderful game.

I won't bore you with more words and tons of photos, but here are the highlights of the openings. My Gold Foils and my Legendaries and Epics.

  • 6 Gold Foil cards
  • 3 Legendary cards
  • 6 Epic cards

But most importantly,

YODIN ZAKU!

That's going to be a hard one to top. I hope you enjoyed my post.

If that's really from just 25 packs then you have some astounding luck!

I've opened 49 Untamed packs (almost all of them with Legendary and Alchemy potions) and have 1 Legendary, 7 Epics, and 9 Gold foils. Maybe my potions are having the opposite effect!

Also, I think you counted wrong. I see 6 Epics and 3 Legendaries in your screenshot

Heh, whoops you are correct. I initially got my Legendaries and Epics mixed up as well as I totally forgot to count Zaku's card. Hopefully, your luck will start to improve!

@tipu curate

Opening packs is fun. First you see it shake and cool then it turns gold and wow that feeling.

It's quite fun. Unlike traditional turn based card games where you have to be like "I lay x mana on this card to cast y ability" the game starts out with a given mana pool for you to choose your champion and monsters to fight. Once you hit battle it's all about the math of who put what where, who has the highest speed to go first, what modifiers do your cards have that could help you etc. And it all unfolds auto-magically.

I like it because more than anything, it respects my time. I don't have to sit down and have 30-60 minutes to spare in order to play one battle. Plus the game is cheap for a card game. $10 to unlock quests and $2 booster packs? You'll spend 3 times as much just to get your base deck in other games.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, you can sell your cards. So if you buy like $50 worth of Hearthstone cards and then stop playing, that' just $50 you won't get back.

But in Splinterlands you can sell your cards on the market because they are NFT's. So you can get money back when you are done with the game. Possibly more than you put in. That Yodin Zaku Gold Foil Legendary card is worth ~$300. I spent about $50 to "get" it!
