Splinterlands - Weekly SHARE YOUR BATTLE Challenge - Theme: Horny Toad

Splinterlands battles are more interesting with the introduction of new rewards cards. But for now, we have this Weekly Challenge with another less used Untamed Common neutral monster Horny Toad and I am sure you agree with me that you haven't used this much if not never :)

Well, even though the Horny Toad is not popular, it has couple of abilities which are good enough to use this monster when there is suitable ruleset.

Below are the statistics for this monster with abilities details as well.

Attack:

It's less effective melee attacks makes it to use lesser in battles as it starts with single melee attack but increases to 2 from level 4 and ends with 3 at the maximum level i.e. level 10.

Speed:

Speed is definitely good for this less MANA monster at higher levels, but it starts with single speed and ends with 4.

Health:

Another same story for this monster as the health is on lesser side at lower levels with starting health of 2 which increases to 3 at level 5 and eventually increases to 4 from penultimate level.

Abilities:

What makes this monster interesting is the abilities it has.

Reach ability is good for this monster to be used in second position in normal battles and use it anywhere when there are melee mayhem or super sneak battles.

Another nice ability this monster has is poison, which gives it a chance to poison the monsters it attacks.

As we see above, this was a medium MANA cap battle with 20 MANA and included ruleset Close Range enabling the ranged attack monsters to even attack from first position in the lineup.

Since this was a lesser MANA battle and I had a Daily Quest with Fire Splinter, I included the lineup as below:

1. Cerberus:

The abilities of healing and retaliate prompted me to use this monster in first position as it has health of Seven and comes with nice melee attack of 4(3+1 for Fire Splinter).

2. Horny Toad:

If it was not for this week's theme, I wouldn't have used this as I got Giant Roc with better abilities and stats, but, I used this just for the sake of this Weekly Challenge.

As I mentioned above, it's abilities are it's assets and I am not fortunate yet to have it's poison option because of lower level card I have.

3. Serpentine Spy:

One of the most used Fire splinter monsters is this one for it's speed and melee attack and I use this most of the time.

4. Flame Imp:

I specifically used this in this low MANA battle to give more first attacks for my monsters with it's Swift ability which increases the speed of all my monsters and it's flying ability makes it to escape few hits from melee and ranged attack monsters.

5. Beetle Queen:

Low MANA battles are always tricky and a healing monster like this one will be a good one to keep those front melee monsters alive.

6. Furious Chicken:

This no MANA monster in the last position since I had covered 20 MANA with 5 other monsters used.

This was good to take up a blow from sneak attack and save the healing Beetle Queen from early expose to sneak attack.

So, this attack was good to take on opponent's Fire splinter monsters Cerberus, Creeping Ooze, Elven Cutthroat, Kobold Miner, Goblin Shaman and Fire Demon.

Battle:

Round 1:

Serpentine Spy's superior speed took out the lesser health monster of Creeping Ooze and also helped me to get back a speed for each of my monsters.

Combined effort of Flame Imp, Cerberus and Beetle Queen took out the opponent's Cerberus and Horny Toad then got into action to remove Elven Cutthroat and even before a first blow from opponent, he had lost 3 monsters.

But, to compensate for that, opponent had a chance to remove my Cerberus with combined attack from Kobold Miner, Fire Demon and Goblin Shaman.

Round 2:

Before we could understand what happened, there was another round of attack from Flame Imp, Beetle Queen and Horny Toad to take down Kobold Miner and Goblin Shaman and Fire Demon hit from front position because of Close Range battle reduced the health of Horny Toad, but it could still survive!!!

Round 3:

It was just formalities to remove Fire Demon as it had just 6 health* before the round started and had a comfortable win!!!

That was a sweet win and happy that didn't have to sweat it much to win a battle with themed monster of Horny Toad.

Now, time for questions answers.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Well, 100%, the ease with which I won the battle tells it all!!!!

What I could have tried differently is, to use a better monster than Horny Toad as it's 3 health is way too low for it to be in second position.

Do you use the HORNY TOAD often? Why or why not?

No, I don't use it much because of other better monsters.
